Small, but important portions of daytime/outdoor images shot at ISO 100 still appear sharp and crisp.
Night photos taken between ISO values 800 and 3200 have only minimal noise onscreen. The photo above was taken at ISO 1600, and as you can see, the sky’s still pretty smooth.
AWB vs APPROPRIATE WHITE BALANCE
PROVIA VS VELVIA
The Velvia filter oversaturates blues, greens, yellows and reds.
COLORS
Yellows are bright and aptly saturated.
Velvia really brings out the browns in a scene.
Greens are slightly subdued when shooting in Provia.
MONOCHROME
My opinion hasn’t changed since my review of the X-F1—Fujifilm’s black-and-white film simulation mode probably bests that of any other brand. Black and white images taken with the X-E1 are very dynamic (a good mix of blacks, whites and grays), plus details and textures are still visible.
Check out the detail of these statues.
