WHY PICK THE MIDDLE CHILD?: THE VERDICT
The X-E1 is a good camera, no doubt. However, the purchasing decision depends, of course, on your need. If you don’t need the OVF of the X-Pro1 (or don’t have the bucks for it) and you think you could settle for a shorter battery life, then you can settle for the X-E1. The same applies if you don’t need the wireless capabilities of the X-M1 and would rather use a viewfinder to frame shots.
Minor niggles aside, the combination of its features and the quality of the images it can produce, offered at a more tempting price than the X-Pro1, makes the X-E1 a fierce candidate for advanced users looking for a CSC.
