All-Filipino Mobile Legends team ArkAngel finished third at the Mobile Legends Bang Bang Southeast Asia Cup held last June 21-23 at Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Despite failing to book a seat in the finals, the team still managed to come at a respectable third place and a prize of $15,133 or over PHP 780,000.
ArkAngel lost to Louvre Esports from Indonesia (2-1) in the upper bracket of the tournament. The lost meant ArkAngel had to battle their way through the lower bracket.
ArkAngel swept Singaporean team Evos Esports (2-0) before facing Vietnamese squad Overclockers. The two teams were evenly matched but the home crowd favorites managed to squeak past their opponents (2-1).
The win set up a grudge match against Louvre who fell against their fellow Indonesian team Onic Esports. The Indonesians proved their mastery of the game as they beat the Filipinos (2-0) to set up an all-Indonesian finals.
Meanwhile, Filipino team Bren Esports failed to match crowd expectations by falling out early in the lower bracket against Overclockers.
Indonesian team Onic Esports was the eventual champs of the tournament taking home $68,102 or more than PHP 3.5 million while Louvre got $30,267 or more than PHP 1.5 million.
