For the second year in a row, eCloudvalley Technology (ECV) has been awarded Amazon Web Services (AWS) Consulting Partner of the Year in recognition of its leadership in accelerating customer adoption of cloud technology and driving digital transformation in the Philippines. In 2020, eCloudvalley received the same honor for ASEAN, while this year, the award was given for the company’s work in the Philippines.

“Being named ‘2021 Consulting Partner of the Year’ for the Philippines is deeply meaningful for us,” said Jonathan Que, ECV country manager. “This award recognizes the work we’ve done to help Philippine companies overcome the uncertainty and instability brought about by the unprecedented challenges and prolonged lockdowns of the COVID-19 pandemic and lead them to success in their cloud journeys.”

“At AWS ASEAN, we consider our partners to be an extension of our team. Never has this shared obsession with serving our customers been more visible than over the last twelve months, where we have seen so many ASEAN partners go above and beyond on behalf of our customers,” said Conor McNamara, managing director, AWS ASEAN. “The AWS ASEAN Partner Awards is an opportunity for us to recognize the exceptional contributions of AWS Partners from across ASEAN. We are humbled by the collective commitment of our partner community and congratulate all award winners on this well-deserved recognition.”

The pandemic’s impact on Philippine businesses has been substantial with the country ranking the highest in terms of business closures between April and May 2020 according to a study by the Asian Development Bank (ADB). During that period, 70% of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the Philippines had to suspend their operations.

“We know that the pandemic has changed the nature of work and how our customers operate because the needs of their own customers have evolved,” said Que. “While there’s optimism with vaccine rollouts and the gradual reopening of the Philippine economy, businesses that invested early in digital transformation have already forged ahead over those that remained traditional,” said Que.

This has been proven by the company’s remarkable growth despite the challenges of the pandemic. eCloudvalley posted overall revenue growth of 153% year on year compared to 2020.  Most of this growth came from cloud migration services, indicating that Philippine companies are moving more of their workloads to AWS. The second-largest growth area for ECV has been in Big Data and Analytics, where Philippine companies have taken advantage of the agility and cost-effectiveness of the cloud, to create data platforms that leverage the wealth of data that they have, to make data-driven decisions, and for innovation.

As one of the select AWS Premier Consulting Partners in the Philippines, eCloudvalley has led significant transformation initiatives with some of the country’s digital pioneers. This includes Union Bank of the Philippines (UBP), which opened its first fully digital bank in 2019 and is currently serving its customers purely through mobile applications.

“eCloudvalley has been a true partner from the start, allowing us to migrate our Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platform to AWS ahead of schedule,” said Dennis Omila, UBP chief information, and operations officer. “They take their commitments seriously and have the experience and expertise to work with us in extracting more value from our platform.”

eCloudvalley’s agility proved to be a key component in driving success not only for the company but also for their customers.

According to Alexandra Ramos-Padilla, managing director of National Bookstore, “eCloudvalley was instrumental in helping us migrate our ERP and other systems to AWS within six months and on time despite the looming threat of the pandemic. Our system performance increased by 20%, while at the same time we were able to realize cost savings. Since then, they have been a proactive partner in optimizing our systems on AWS in terms of cost and performance.”

With the company’s track record in growth and customer success, eCloudvalley continues to strengthen its capabilities in customizing its services for Philippine companies. A key focus area is Next Generation Managed Services where ECV works with customers such as Jollibee Foods Corporation to properly manage their AWS environment and empowers them to do it themselves in the future.

“The pandemic has shifted executive mindsets to be more open to change driven by technology, but Philippine companies still need significant support in navigating what can be a complex digital transformation,” said Que. “We aim to simplify the technology for our customers so that they can focus on the success and growth of their businesses.”
