Volunteers from IBM Business Services, Inc. (IBS) visited Christian Growth Ministry’s Home of Joy (HOJ) in Dasmarinas City to share their time and energy with the children and the staff of the orphanage.

This initiative is part of IBS’ “Breaking Barriers.” It’s a response to the invitation from Mead Johnson Nutrition (MJN) Philippines (makers of Lactum 3+ 6+ and Enfagrow A+ Kid) to  participate in  the “A Child’s Best Start”  (ACBS) Program. This year, IBS employees together with MJN volunteers spent three Saturdays setting up the fruit and vegetable garden, cleaning the houses and other buildings of the orphanage, and interacting with the orphans and their caretakers.

ACBS is a global Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of MJN centered on helping institutions committed to the care and well-being of children in challenging situations provide proper nutrition for their wards. In the Philippines, the ACBS Program was implemented at the HOJ where MJN volunteers renovated the kitchen facilities and set up the vegetable and fruit garden.

IBM, through its On Demand Community (https://www.ibm.com/ibm/ondemandcommunity), encourages its employees and retirees to share their resources and skills to build and sustain communities.
