Five Trends that will Shape IT Decisions in 2014

    Dell Solutions Tour

Through four key themes, Transform, Connect, Inform, and Protect, Dell engaged the crowd with meaningful discussions. With the aim to drive IT and business decisions, Dell shared five trends that will shape IT decisions for 2014, ultimately increasing productivity and data security.

    1. One Cloud Does Not Fit All

In 2014, organizations will increasingly realize that one cloud does not fit all. There will be more interest on the options available, including the type of cloud – public, private or hybrid, as well as how to ensure the security of data moving in and out of the cloud.

    2. CYOD, the new BYOD

With the rise of the Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) concept, challenges soon emerged. An alternative mobility business model that Dell sees businesses exploring in 2014 is Choose Your Own Device (CYOD). This concept allows CIOs to easily manage the deployment of multiple device options with the right security configurations.

    3. Moving Beyond Transactions to Digital Relationships with Social Media

Dell is a firm believer in learning from customer feedback. Social media has helped organizations in the successful delivery of clear-cut products and services to customers. In 2014, Social Media will continue to be a tool and an extension of brands and their relationships with their customers.

    4. Big Data Analytics Gets Simpler to Deploy

Options to leverage big data analytics will increase – from outsourcing data analytics to cloud-based service providers to purchasing simple data analytics start-up kits.

    5. Security at the Core of Business Strategy

Businesses will learn that security is very much the business strategy in 2014. The aim is to protect data wherever it resides – on the network, in the cloud, or on mobile devices.

Dell has also unveiled a new series of full-featured, enterprise storage arrays designed for mid-sized fibre channel deployments. Available first in the Asia-Pacific region, the new Dell Storage SC4000 Series is an all-flash solution that can cost up to 76 percent less than competing pure flash arrays. It is Dell’s latest innovation in its customer-driven enterprise data center portfolio.

“The Dell Storage SC4000 Series represents the latest example of Dell redefining the economics of enterprise storage and a huge opportunity for our customers, channel partners and Dell,” said Chris Papa, country manager, Dell Philippines.

Also revealed at the event was the latest addition to Dell’s PowerEdge server portfolio, the Dell PowerEdge R920. It’s Dell’s highest performing server to date, which allows customers to deliver faster and quality output.  The PowerEdge R920 enables customers to boost business-application effectiveness, deliver exceptional database performance and efficiently consolidate workloads with large-scale virtualization and its 4-socket, 4U server, with built-in expandability.

“Dell now can offer enterprise-class, fibre-channel arrays in a high-performing, affordable solution designed for mid-sized deployments. These arrays offer the advanced capabilities of larger-scale enterprise storage to help medium-sized organizations become more competitive, while enabling Dell to address an entirely new storage market segment with our world class solutions and support,” Papa added.
