DZMM is holding its third annual “Takbo Para sa Karunungan,” a fun run that will benefit 75 young scholars. The run will take place on Saturday, March 23, at 4 am at the Quirino Grandstand. This year’s event will raise funds to continue the scholarship of 25 students from Cagayan de Oro, which was recently hit by Typhoon Sendong, and will also support the study of 50 students from Metro Manila that was recently devastated by Typhoon Ondoy and the Habagat.

Kapamilya TV host Kim Atienza will lead the runners on the event. Joining him are DZMM anchors Gerry Baja, Karen Davila, Winnie Cordero, and others. Before the launch of “Takbo Para sa Karunungan” in 2011, DZMM started organizing the annual “Takbo Para sa Kalikasan” in 1999. The run was also for the benefit of projects involving the environment, such as the continued rehabilitation of the La Mesa watershed and the Pasig Rehabilitation Project through ABS-CBN Foundation’s “Bantay Kalikasan.”

Runners of all skill levels can choose to join in the 3 km, 5 km, 10 km, and 21 km race categories. The standard registration rates are P450, P550, and P600 respectively. Students will only need to pay P300. Cash prizes will be given to the individual top winners and participating largest government organizations, non-government organizations, and school contingents. To register, visit http://www.dzmm.com.ph or call the secretariat at 4152272 local 5674 and 5641.
