Epson ready for BIR ban on thermal paper

TechnologyTechnology NewsEpson ready for BIR ban on thermal paper

Following the announcement of the Department of Finance (DOF) and the Bureau of Internal Revenue’s (BIR) ban on thermal paper in issuing receipts, Epson Philippines has come up with solutions to help customers who would be affected by the regulation.

The regulation stated that all taxpayers (individuals or businesses) are required to preserve their books of accounts for a period of ten years, which is an impossibility with receipts printed on thermal paper. In compliance, new business registrants must use non-thermal paper while existing registered taxpayers (who are currently using thermal receipts), have a three-year transition period to conform to the regulation.

Epson Philippines, the six-year No.1 brand in Point-of-Sale (POS) systems, is offering its reliable Epson printer technology that can be used for POS systems: dot matrix technology. For 17 years, the brand has been a trusted choice in the dot matrix printer category, holding an outstanding 96% market share.

What makes Epson POS systems built with dot matrix technology just the right substitute is its print outs that do not fade; therefore perfect for financial record-keeping purposes.

Thea Austria, product manager of Epson Philippines’ POS systems, said, “We are equipped to provide even more trusted solutions to our customers by aiding them to comply with the new government regulation banning the use of thermal paper for receipts. There’s a reason why Epson’s dot matrix printers dominate the category – new users would be delighted in the uncompromising reliability and efficacy of our printers.”
