Lending aid to victims of Typhoon Labuyo in South and North Luzon is just a text away as Globe Telecom opens up its GCASH micro-payment service to accept donations for relief operations of government and non-government organizations.

Globe has set up GCASH donation channels for the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC), and Simbahang Lingkod ng Bayan (SLB)—three of the most active relief assistance centers for the calamity.

To help in the relief efforts, Globe subscribers can make donations to the organization of their choice by texting the following:

    • For DSWD: Text DONATE AMOUNT MPIN DSWD send to 2882
    • For PNRC: Text DONATE AMOUNT MPIN REDCROSS send to 2882
    • For SLB: Text DONATE AMOUNT MPIN SLB send to 2882

“We hope that through our GCASH facility, it would be easier and more convenient for our subscribers to help alleviate the condition of our fellow citizens who are currently suffering from lack of food, water, clothing, and shelter. We are also enjoining everyone to spread the word to their families and friends so that more aid could be provided to Labuyo victims. Even small amounts could go a long way,” said Fernando Esguerra, OIC of Globe Corporate Social Responsibility.

DSWD is currently spearheading the government’s efforts to provide basic necessities for the victims while PNRC, being the premier humanitarian organization in the country, provides life-saving services during such vulnerable situations.

SLB, through its E-Ugnay program online map application powered by Globe, provides real-time information and needed relief support in calamity-hit areas which allows for the quick purchase, repacking and distribution of goods.
