While the world has been watching the epic Samsung Vs. Apple legal drama, HTC and Big Fruit have called an end to legal hostilities by agreeing to drop all the patent claims against each other and instead opting for a long-ish term licensing deal for the disputed patents. The details of the deal remain secret, but both parties seem pleased with the result and hope to be able to “focus more on innovation rather than litigation,” according to Apple. While not as big as the Samsung Vs. Apple, this turn of events brings to the table the possibility of an end to that legal battle as well. It’s great news for the consumer, too, as now tech can go its own way, depending on the whims of individual manufacturers and not courtroom bullying.
