    Line—one of the world’s leading chat platforms—has announced the success of its original character brand “Line Friends” on the most prestigious licensing awards in Hongkong.

    Line friends, which is the character brand of the messaging platform, has won the LIMA Asian Licensing Awards and Asian Licensing Awards. This achievement has gained the characters—Brown, Cony, Sally, Leonard, James, Jessica, Boss, and Edward—a strong foothold on being the best representative character in the whole of Asia.

    The LIMA Asian Licensing Awards honored Line Friends as the “Best Asian Property Of The Year” and was noted for its unique experience offering to character lovers around the world. Following that, the character brand won another accolade from the Asian Licensing Awards (ALA). Line Friends won the “Best Asian Property” title for its rapid growth and immense potential in the market.

    Stephan Kang, senior manager of the Business Development Division of Line Plus Corporation in the Philippines, shared that “Winning both LIMA and ALA is such a great honor as they are considered as the Oscar Awards of the character business. To return the love we have received from our fans, we will continue to offer more variety of LINE FRIENDS products in many more places around the world.”

    What initially started as endearing stickers for users of Line messenger, Line Friends was reborn as character merchandise with over 3,300 items, such as clothing, stationary, and household products, adored by many Line fans globally.
