The Mitsubishi ASX is an active sport crossover with a silver-framed honeycomb grille up front accented by Super Wide Range HID headlamps (for the GSR variant) with retractable washers and LED daytime fog lamps and running lamps.
Its side looks clean and sleek, coming equipped with power side mirrors with defogger, LED blinker, and power fold functions, and designed 17-inch alloy wheels. Overall, it measures 4,295×1,770×1,625mm (LxWxH) and weighs 1,350kg.
On the back is a rear wiper with washer, a roof mounted antenna, rear window defogger with timer, a chrome-finished tailpipe, and an optional reverse camera. The back door swings up to reveal the storage capable of holding 384 liters of cargo.
The ASX is a 5-seater configurable to either full-flat rear seats or 60:40 split foldable back seats, with everything clad in either genuine leather or high-grade fabric.
Finished in carbon fiber is its center instrument panel where dual aircon vents, a 6.5-inch multifunction LCD display for DVDs, GPS, or phone connectivity, and fully-automatic dial-type climate controls with chrome finish are located from top to bottom, respectively.
Its dashboard is made alive by white-lit high contrast meters with chrome accents.
For creature comforts, it has integrated cruise and driver controls at the steering wheel, a one-click start/stop button, and keyless operation system. Cruise control can be activated while running at a minimum of 40kph. Lastly, it has two front dual stage airbags and Mitsubishi’s innovative Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution (R.I.S.E) body for passenger safety.
The GSR variant gets the incredibly eye-catching retracting roof which reveals a panoramic glass ceiling stretching from the front to the back seats. At night, it ups the eye-candy ante with its LED illuminating lamps.
Its lifeblood is a 4B11 2.0L 4 In-Line 16-Valve DOHC MIVEC gasoline engine with a displacement of 1998cc. It doles out 150Ps at 6,000rpm and 197Nm at 4,200rpm. The engine is mated to an INVECS-III CVT with 6-speed Sportronic transmission. Rounding up its specs is a racing-styled paddle-shift system attached on the tilting and telescopic steering column.
The 2015 GLS ASX variant retails for PHP 1,148,000 while the more premium 2015 GSR ASX variant is tagged at PHP 1,248,000. Additionally, Mitsubishi will be having an introductory sale taking as much as PHP 50,000 off the said prices. Color options available are sapporo silver, sonic blue, amazon red, virgil gray, biscuit white, and carbon black.
