HOOQ, one of Asia’s largest premium video-on-demand services, announced a set of new content to be rolled out in the streaming service this year, many of which its subscribers should look forward to.
Among its first ventures this year is production of original content. HOOQ recently signed a landmark co-production deal with digital lifestyle propeller Globe Telecom and independent studio Reality Entertainment for the production of On the Job (OTJ) mini-series, which is set to debut on the VoD platform Q4 of 2016. This six-episode original story is a take-off on the multi-award winning masterpiece OTJ, a Filipino crime thriller inspired by actual indignities that take place within Philippine penitentiaries and politics. Director Erik Matti shared that this mini-series they’re currently working on will revolve around hard-hitting topics in Philippine society including themes from the movie and social and mass media that needs to be told. Matti also teased character cameos from the OTJ movie as well as new relatable personalities involved in engaging plotlines that will keep viewers on the edge of their seat.

The OTJ mini-series will test the waters for original content released on platforms like HOOQ. This partnership enables the service to explore stories that support and help make Filipino talent shine.
HOOQ will be releasing OTJ in the Philippines and across its other markets such as Thailand, India, and Indonesia.
Additionally, the HOOQs over 180,000 active subscribers will now be able to access interviews, extra footage, and deleted scenes from the iconic Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II first time on a SVOD platform. Signing up for a new HOOQ account until June 24 also entitles subscribers a chance to watch the world premiere with the Ghostbusters stars in Hollywood this July.
The service has also introduced a pricing structure for emerging markets. Its bite-size weekly “sachets” feature allows subscribers of the promo seven days of unlimited access to a catalog of Hollywood and local titles available in the service. The 7-day sachet—also offered in Indonesia–is expected to be available in the Philippines for PHP 59 by the 3rd quarter of the year.
