After a series of workshops and live demo sessions meant to train shortlisted participants of its digital short competition, Power Mac Center rounded up the second installment of Pixelworx Cinemansanas through a special screening and awards ceremony held at the Power Mac Center Spotlight in Circuit Makati.

From a pool of submitted masterpieces, 12 participants—six from the student category and another six for the professional category–stood out and were called to compete in the digital short challenge.

The event was attended by prominent figures in the film industry, who are also Pixelworx brand ambassadors, and served as judges for the competition. Independent filmmakers Mario Cornejo and Monster Jimenez, seasoned director Yam Laranas, and multi-awarded author and screenwriter Ricky Lee spearheaded a series of workshops in film production, cinematography, direction, editing, and scriptwriting to assist contenders in creating their ingenious iOS device-shot stories.

To further supplement participants’ knowledge in film editing, they were given tutorials on iMovie, GarageBand, and Final Cut Pro X by highly-skilled individuals.

Entries were rated based on creativity of presentation (50 percent) and the quality of technical elements (50 percent). Runners up for the student category are Joel Griffiths, Talon (Gold) and Jaime Marie Joaquin Asido Morados, The Boy Who Spoke (Platinum), they respectively brought home PHP 10,000 and PHP 20,000 worth of Power Mac Center gift cards. Seliada Asilo claimed the Diamond award (PHP 30,000 worth of Power Mac GCs) category with her entry Flared, an original story about a blind boy who paints his world colourful through imagination.
