Suzuki Philippines today presented its entry to the family car market with its 7-seater Ertiga. The newest offering from Suzuki promises the maneuverability and agility of a sedan with the size and spaciousness of a compact multi-purpose vehicle (MPV).
Suzuki offers the Ertiga as a solution for Filipinos looking for a quality MPV that gives the most bang for their buck. Dubbed as a “Life Utility Vehicle” (LUV), the heart of the Ertiga is its 1.4L gasoline engine (the same one in Suzuki’s Swift 1.4) that produces a maximum power of 95Hp @ 6,000 rpm and max torque of 130Nm @ 4,000 rpm, promising a fuel efficiency of around 16.02km/L. Think of it as a Swift hatchback albeit one in a longer body.
The Ertiga comes to the Philippines in three main variants – the most basic GA, the middle ground GL, and the feature-packed GLX. In all its types, the car is simple yet stylish. Its sweeping headlamps frame the car’s dynamic front ends and also adds to the visual flow of the Ertiga’s aerodynamic form. The GL includes smart side view mirrors while the GLX adds built-in fog lamps for enhanced safety.
Inside, the Ertiga has 7 seats in the 2-3-2 format each of which is upholstered in textured fabric. The back has enough space for 113 liters of baggage which increases to 460 and 810 liters with the 3rd and 2nd row seats folded respectively. For comfort, the 2nd row seats move back and forth for leg room adjustment, and it also has additional air-conditioning vents to keep passengers up to the last row cool while travelling, this added aircon exclusive to the GL and GLX variants.
The car’s structure is composed of high tensile steel in strategic sections which reduce bodyweight while maintaining safety. The GL and GLX have added features for passenger safety. They are equipped with SRS dual front seat airbags, 3-point ELR seatbelts, and automatic brakeforce distribution with EBD ready for all road conditions.
Suzuki Philippines President Hiroshi Suzuki shared, “The all-new Ertiga is another testament to Suzuki’s renowned engineering leadership and legacy in manufacturing compact cars. We are bringing in the all-new Ertiga as our latest entry in the MPV segment and we are confident our latest offering will meet, and even exceed, the expectations of our customers. We have carefully combined the best characteristics of a compact car and an MPV to create a very competitively-priced Life Utility Vehicle that is set to be the new standard in this category.”
Suzuki is offering two manual and two automatic Ertigas locally. The manual variants include the Ertiga GA M/T at Php 619,000 and the GL M/T at Php 712,000.
