Nissan Philippines, Inc. launched the latest iteration of their X-Trail model during their opening program at the 5th Philippine International Motor Show. Well-received in countries such as the USA, Japan, China, and Australia, this latest flagship is Nissan’s contender in the Philippine compact sports utility vehicle segment.
The X-Trail bears the appearance of a modern crossover, with a V-motion front grille paired with LED daytime running lights and boomerang-shaped tail lamps. Inside, the X-Trail presents a much bigger cabin space accented with luxurious panels, brushed metallic accents, and soft-touch surfaces. Their 4×4 variant comes with integrated steering wheel controls for audio, cruise control, and phone connectivity.
The 4×2 variant’s heart is a MR20DD 2.0-liter inline 4-cylinder DOHC 16-valve engine which is capable of providing up to 144Ps and 200Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the 4×4 comes equipped with a QR25DE 2.5-liter 4-cylinder DOHC 16-valve engine capable of producing as much as 171Ps and 233Nm of thrust powers. Both engines are mated with Nissan’s proprietary XTRONIC transmission.
The X-Trail doesn’t come up short in the creature comforts department. It has an Active Ride Control system which monitors and analyzes the road you’re travelling on while making adjustments to the car’s suspensions for comfortable body rolls during high-speed cornering. An Active Engine Brake system is in place to ensure smooth turns while braking. The 4×4 has an additional Around View Monitor that gives the driver a 360-degree real time view useful for maneuvering around road impediments; and a Hill Start Assistance system which allows you to safely get the car going when stopped on an incline.
The all-new X-Trail comes with pearl white, diamond black, brilliant silver, and fiery red color options, with the 4×4 variant having an exclusive special copper blaze edition. The model retails for PHP 1.375 million for the 2.0-liter 4×2 variant, and PHP 1.580 million for the 2.5-liter 4×4 variant. As a special introductory offer, purchases made before October 31, 2014 will see a PHP 25,000 discount for the 4×2, and a PHP 30,000 markdown for the 4×4.
