TCL has introduced the C7L, a premium television built around the company’s SQD-MiniLED display platform. Available in 55-, 65-, 75-, and 85-inch sizes, the model combines advanced local dimming, enhanced color reproduction, gaming-oriented picture performance, and an audio system developed with Bang & Olufsen.
The C7L is designed to deliver brighter highlights, deeper shadows, and more controlled contrast across different types of content. TCL also positions the model as an upgrade for viewers looking for a larger home entertainment display without moving away from an LCD-based television platform.
More precise control over brightness
The TCL C7L uses SQD-MiniLED technology to divide the backlight into more precise dimming zones. This allows the television to adjust light output in different parts of the image, improving the separation between bright highlights and darker areas.
The display system also incorporates TCL’s Super QLED technology and an Ultra Color Filter Panel. Together, these components are intended to improve color volume, brightness control, and overall image consistency.

Halo control and higher contrast
The C7L’s Precise Dimming Series incorporates what TCL calls all-domain halo control, which is designed to reduce visible light bleed around bright objects on dark backgrounds. The system combines high-output light-emitting chips, condensed micro-lenses, and software-based light control.
A CSOT HVA 2.0 panel provides the television’s high-contrast foundation, while TCL’s Light and Shadow Control Algorithm adjusts picture output based on scene content. This combination is intended to preserve shadow detail without washing out brighter portions of the image.
The television also uses a new high-efficiency light chip that TCL says improves both peak brightness and energy efficiency compared with the previous generation. The company positions the update as a way to reproduce bright and dark scenes with greater clarity while managing power consumption.
Picture performance for gaming
For gaming, the SQD-MiniLED backlight is designed to reveal more detail in darker environments while maintaining strong color output in brighter scenes. This can make objects and environmental details easier to distinguish in games with high-contrast visuals.
TCL describes the C7L as suitable for players who want a large-screen display with improved image depth and controlled brightness. The release, however, does not provide detailed gaming specifications such as refresh rate, supported resolutions, input latency, or HDMI feature support.
Audio tuned with Bang & Olufsen
The TCL C7L includes an integrated audio system co-engineered with Bang & Olufsen. According to TCL, the collaboration focuses on speaker tuning and the reproduction of clearer, more natural sound across different types of content.
