CARRIER SLIM BRINGS COOLING INTO MODERN HOME DESIGN

Planning a home renovation often starts with layout, furniture, finishes, and lighting. Carrier is making the case that air conditioning should be part of that discussion much earlier, particularly as more homeowners look for spaces that balance comfort, flexibility, and design.

The brand explored that idea through the Carrier Home Design Studio, a three-day pop-up at Uptown Mall in BGC centered on the Carrier Slim floor-standing air conditioner. The event invited homeowners and designers to experience how cooling equipment can be integrated into contemporary interiors rather than treated as an afterthought.

COOLING AS PART OF THE DESIGN PLAN

Issa Litton, Marilen Montenegro, and Anton Barretto discuss current home-design trends and the role of air conditioning in early space planning.

At the launch program, interior stylist Marilen Montenegro and Anton Barretto, TV host of Metro Home and senior partner at ADesign, discussed how changing lifestyles are shaping how people plan their homes.

Montenegro noted that homeowners increasingly want spaces that are both attractive and responsive to how families actually live, including areas dedicated to wellness. Barretto pointed to the continuing preference for open-plan layouts that can be closed off when needed, allowing spaces to shift between separate functions and larger shared areas.

Both emphasized that designers should consider cooling early in the design process. Barretto said air-conditioning placement affects decisions about piping, compressors, and electrical layout, while Montenegro highlighted practical factors such as ceiling height, floor area, and the horsepower needed to cool a space properly.

MORE CAPACITY OPTIONS FOR DIFFERENT SPACES

Philip Trapaga of Carrier Concepcion Airconditioning Company joins Rafael Hechanova and Mike Dauden during the Carrier Home Design Studio launch.

Carrier originally introduced the Slim in a 4.0HP configuration. It has now expanded the lineup with 2.5HP and 3.0HP capacities to address smaller spaces such as condominium units and more compact areas within a home.

Philip Trapaga, president of Carrier Concepcion Airconditioning Company, said the additional capacities were introduced in response to customers looking for the same floor-standing design in sizes better suited to different interiors.

A VERTICAL FORM FACTOR FOR FLEXIBLE INTERIORS

The Carrier Slim’s vertical design is intended to preserve wall space while providing cooling through features such as 3D Airflow and Breeze Away.

At the pop-up, two interactive room setups showed the Carrier Slim in furnished residential settings using pieces from Fashion Interiors.

Its vertical floor-standing design is intended to make use of floor space while leaving walls relatively open, which can be useful in layouts where wall-mounted units may interfere with furniture, artwork, shelving, or other design elements.

The displays also demonstrated Carrier Slim’s 3D Airflow, which distributes cooling across the room, and Breeze Away, which is intended to reduce direct drafts for more comfortable airflow.

ENERGY EFFICIENCY FOR EVERYDAY USE

Beyond layout and aesthetics, the Carrier Slim is also positioned around long-term energy efficiency.

The unit carries a 5-star energy rating, supporting the broader aim of keeping electricity use more manageable over time. The expanded 2.5HP and 3.0HP models give homeowners more options to match cooling capacity with the size and intended use of the room rather than defaulting to a single configuration.

Through the Home Design Studio, Carrier showcased the air conditioner as part of the overall living environment, linking comfort, layout, energy use, and interior planning more closely than the traditional approach of choosing cooling equipment only after the space has been designed.
