Highlighting today’s opening was the unveiling of Foton’s newest additions to their stable: the Toplander SUV; the Gratour Minivan; and the full-sized Toano van.
Foton ToplanderThe Toplander is the company’s first SUV, developed and engineered for both daily and rugged use. It is powered by a Cummins ISF 2.8-liter diesel engine, and extracts maximum power and torque using a Bosch-branded, electronically controlled, high-pressure common rail fuel injection system and a turbo intercooler. The power plant is paired with a manual transmission.Safety features include 3-poit seatbelts with emergency locking retractor (ELR) and adjustable height, hydraulic braking auxiliary system, brake assist, hill-start assist (HSA), hill descent control (HDC), tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) dual airbags, 4-probe reverse sensors, reverse camera, engine immobilizer, child safety locks, external and internal lamp off-delay, as well as ISOFIX points. The 4×4 variant has a torque-on-demand function, and boasts of a class-leading three-ton towing capacity.The Toplander seats seven, with a foldable third row for additional cargo space. Prices start at only PHP998,000 for the 4×2 and PHP1,150,000 for the 4×4. It is available in ibis white, moonlight silver, and phantom black.
Foton GratourThe Gratour is the brand’s versatile minivan that seats seven or eight passengers in highly customizable seat configurations. The V5 variant that is available locally is the top-of-the-line trim featuring the mighty yet frugal Euro-4 compliant G03 1.2-liter gasoline engine that promises impressive fuel economy, low noise, low emissions and high reliability.The Foton Gratour is priced at an affordable PHP490,000, and is available in amber bronze, aurora white, metallic silver, starry blue, and space gray.
Foton ToanoTaking its name from an Italian municipality, the Toano is Foton’s big and powerful full-sized van. Designed by the original Mercedes-Benz Sprinter car design team in Stuttgart, Germany, the Toano, like the Gratour, boasts European design principles. The Toano comfortably seats up to 18 passengers with plenty of room left over for cargo. It comes in various chassis configurations to address various customer preferences, and also appears in different lengths and sporting various tops.Powered by a Foton Cummins ISF 2.8 diesel engine that produces 163Ps of power and 360Nm of torque , the Toano’s power bandwidth at low revs results in impressive fuel efficiency — up to 11.5 kilometers per liter for such a big vehicle.
Some of the Toano’s safety features include Bosch’s ninth-generation anti-lock braking system, plus electronic brake force distribution; rear-facing cameras and sensors; high-strength steel plates; anti-collision beams; three-point pretensioner seat belts for all passengers; and an energy-absorbing steering column.
