Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI), launched the all-new Jazz at Metrotent Convention Center in Pasig City. Known to be the vehicle that started the hatchback segment, the all-new Jazz unveiled tonight is dubbed as “The One”; further strengthening the benchmark the Jazz has set since 2004.
Being a global model in Honda’s line-up, the all-new Jazz was developed with the goal to be “The World’s Best Functional Compact”. The development team who worked on the all-new Jazz incorporated key technologies that intend to further improve the all-new Jazz’ dynamic performance, fuel economy and essentially its versatility and functionality.
Compared to the previous model., the third generation Jazz measures at 3955mm long (55mm longer), 1695mm wide, and 1525mm tall, with 2530mm wheelbase (30mm longer). This resulted in a larger cabin space with substantial increase in passenger space, shoulder and rear leg rooms, and cargo space.
Like it’s prredecessors, the Jazz still boosts of its ULT seats – with an additional function and a revised acronym; UTLR (pronounced as “ultra”). The four seating configuration modes are:
Utility Mode – with Ultra seat folded flat, the vehicle can carry two passengers and larger items
Tall Mode – with the Ultra seat folded up, the vehicle can carry two or three passengers and tall items with maximum height of 100cm in the second row
Long Mode – with the Ultra seat folded flat and the front passenger seat reclined all the way back, the vehicle can carry two passengers and a long item with maximum length of 226 cm
Refresh Mode – the new addition to the Ultra seat configurations; the front seats can be reclined to connect with the rear seats, allowing the driver and passenger to have in-car relaxation
Based on the “Sophisticated Futuristic Cockpit” interior concept, the already versatile and functional all-new Jazz is complemented by a cockpit that assimilates advanced and high quality textures that adds to the fun of driving. It features a highly-visible “3-eye” design instrument cluster. Another addition to the advanced dashboard design is the push start button. The Smart Key with Push Start System intelligently locks and unlocks the doors without even touching the smart key and a push button to start or turn off the engine.
The all-new Jazz also offers first in class features such as the 7-inch touch screen display audio, the application of such equipment minimizes the use of buttons making it easier to operate while radiating a premium feel. The 7-inch touch screen display audio features functions such as hands-free telephone (HFT) and audio streaming via Bluetooth connectivity. For added convenience, the Bluetooth HFT and audio can be operated via the controls mounted on the steering wheel.
The all-new Jazz is equipped with different ports such as auxiliary, USB, the new HDMI port that lets you connect and mirror your smartphone on the display audio screen and an accessory socket. The 1.5 liter i-VTEC engine is mated to either an improved 5-speed Manual Transmission or a new Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) developed under the Earth Dreams Technology.
As with other vehicles in its stable, Honda has also equipped the all-new Jazz with the ECO Assist system; which consists of the ECON mode that controls the engine, drive-by-wire, transmission, and air conditioning performance to improve fuel consumption; and the Eco coaching ambient light that promotes a more fuel efficient driving habit by changing its color depending on the throttle input.
As standard, the all-new Jazz is equipped with Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) and driver and passenger SRS airbags; added to the top of the line variant are side airbags and side curtain airbags.
