Eleven years after winning the prestigious Japan Car of the Year award, Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI), debuted the all-new, fifth generation 2016 Honda Legend 3.5 Sport Hybrid SH-AWD at the Solaire Grand Ballroom, Paranaque City.
Revolving around “Smart Exhilarating Luxury” grand concept, Honda’s flagship vehicle showcases the brand’s highest level of craftsmanship as it imprints its mark in the local market. 
Honda’s entry to the luxury vehicle segment combines opulence with state-of-the-art driving technology. Aptly named as the all-new Legend 3.5 Sport Hybrid Super Handling All-Wheel Drive, it adopts a high-output and fuel-efficient hybrid system that combines one engine with three electric motors. This combination enables the all-new Legend to deliver a total maximum output of 380ps @ 6500 rpm and 462Nm at 4700 rpm of torque, making it the most powerful Honda car to date.
Four engines comprise the main components of the all-new Legend’s advanced hybrid system. Under the hood of the all-new Legend is an Earth Dreams Technology V6 3.5 L direct injection i-VTEC with Variable Cylinder Management (VCM) engine paired with a 7-speed dual clutch transmission (DCT) with an integrated high-performance electric motor. Located in the rear is a Twin Motor Unit (TMU), as well as an intelligent power unit equipped with high-power lithium-ion batteries. Each rear motor is independently controlled and can provide either drive or deceleration power to its wheel in any ratio. This advanced torque vectoring system provides highly stable handling performance in a wide range of driving situations. Lastly, situated at the center of the vehicle is a power drive unit that controls the three electric motors.
The Legend’s advanced hybrid system automatically combines front-wheel drive, rear-wheel drive, or all-wheel drive with Engine drive, Electric Vehicle Drive or Hybrid drive as a response to the driver’s inputs and driving conditions to ensure optimal performance and outstanding fuel economy. Overall this powertrain delivers power similar to a V8 engine and a 4-cylinder like fuel economy.
The All-new Legend’s Jewel-Eye LED headlights are one of the first things you notice about the luxury sedan. Sporting eight LED bulbs and sixteen precisely focused lenses that result to better visibility on the road in any condition, the headlamps are not only functional, but beautiful to look at as well. LEDs were also used for the Legend’s front and rear fog lights, turn signal lights and tail lamps.
Measuring 4,997 x 1,890 x 1,478mm (LxWxH) and with a wheelbase of 2,850mm, the vehicle is massive and projects a commanding presence. Styling-wise, it presents itself with an “aero-fused” exterior motif with its low, wide and athletic stance. On the side, sharp, upswept body lines create a stylish yet dynamic appeal. This aggressive look is complemented with 19-inch noise-reducing alloy wheels complete the look.
Inside, the all-new Legend is fitted with premium soft touch materials with elegant wood and metal accents. Perforated black milano leather seats are standard, with both front seats equipped with climate-controlled 8-way power and 4-way lumbar support.
Unique to the all-new Legend is the lack of a conventional shifter that is replaced by a new fully electronic push-button gear selector. This feature allows drive mode selection with a push of a button and is supplemented with its Electric Parking Brake (EPB) with Auto Brake Hold feature.
Upping the ante in in-suite entertainment is the built-in ultra-premium Krell audio system that comes with 14 speakers and an amplifier that sets a new benchmark for in-car high-fidelity sound. The all-new Legend comes with smart entry with push start button; power tilt and telescoping steering; power sunroof, expanded rear door sunshade and dual screens; as well as an 8-inch Navigation screen and a 7-inch touch screen. 
As expected, the all-new Legend is loaded with safety features for both the driver and passenger. Honda utilized an advanced driver-assistive system called Honda SENSING that receives information from two different devices: one is a millimeter-wave radar that can be found in the front grille; and the other is a monocular camera mounted on the upper, inside part of the windshield. Through these sensing devices, several new convenience and safety functions were applied in the all-new Legend such as the Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Low-Speed Follow (LSF), and Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS).
Other standard driver-assist features include a Multi-view camera system with four wide angle cameras located on the front grille, right and left door mirrors and tailgate; Blind Spot Information (BSI); Cross Traffic Monitor (CTM); Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA); Hill Start Assist (HAS); Front (2) and Rear (4) Parking Sensors; and an Emergency Stop Signal and a Pop Up Hood for pedestrian safety.
The All-new Legend is readily available in crystal black pearl, white orchid pearl, and super platinum metallic with black milano leather interior. Other exterior colors such as gilded pewter metallic, pomegranate pearl, and graphite luster metallic are available upon order. Interior colors seacoast ivory milano leather and brown milano leather are also available by order. 
MUGEN and Modulo accessories are also made available which can be purchased individually or as a package for added convenience and style. Available MUGEN accessories are Carbon Fiber Front Lower Spoiler, Carbon Fiber Ducktail Spoiler, Sports Luggage Mat, and 20-inch Aluminum Wheel. The Modulo accessories, on the other hand, include Front Corner Under Spoiler, Ducktail Spoiler, Door Lower Garnish and Mudguard.
