Federal Express Corporation has launched a dedicated nonstop freighter service between its Asia-Pacific hub in Guangzhou, China, and Sydney, Australia, strengthening trade connectivity into Australia from the Philippines and other key Asian markets. The route operates five times weekly using Boeing 777 freighters.
FedEx said the new routing can shorten transit times for select Philippine shipments by up to one day, allowing goods to reach Australia in as little as two business days. The service also supports shipments from Southern Mainland China, Hong Kong SAR, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, and Thailand.
Faster access to the Australian market
The dedicated route is intended to improve fulfillment speed and reduce inventory holding costs for businesses shipping between Asia and Australia. It also adds capacity for heavy freight and high-value goods while supporting business-to-business trade across the region.

Supporting more regional supply chains
FedEx said intra-Asia trade posted a double-digit year-on-year revenue increase in 2025, reinforcing the region’s importance to global commerce. As companies reorganize supply chains to make them faster, more regional, and more resilient, dependable air freight connections have become increasingly important.
The direct connection through the FedEx Guangzhou Hub is designed to support faster trade flows and improve access to the Australian market. It also gives Philippine businesses another logistics option as they pursue customers and commercial opportunities across the region.
Expanding FedEx connectivity across Asia
The Guangzhou–Sydney route forms part of FedEx’s continuing investment in its intra-Asia network. Other recent enhancements include dedicated nonstop cargo flights between Guangzhou and Penang, additional weekly freighter services between Guangzhou and Bangkok, and an improved outbound connection from Hanoi to South Korea.
Together, these routes are intended to give businesses greater capacity and more direct links to regional markets. For Philippine SMEs and exporters, the new Sydney connection could support faster order fulfillment and more responsive inventory management when serving Australian customers.
