Yamaha Motor Philippines, Inc. introduces the latest edition of the new Sniper155 combining racing excellence, metropolitan ingenuity, and superior control to your ride.

The refined design is equipped with an upgraded performance package and complementary lifestyle features for the racetrack and city roads.

The Sniper brand has always been lauded for its 2-way versatility, offering excellence on both racetracks and streets. The new Sniper155 was developed to have the Yamaha Racing DNA, with an aerodynamic feel with a modern, tight, and compact design with a right horizontal feel that expresses speed like never before. The innovative design shows a massive, powerful, and dynamic movement within the mass-forward silhouette with its short and upward rear end. The design allows you to have a riding posture that gives the impression of solo riding like a super sports bike. Overall, it maintains its masculine & tough image. It is perfect for the rider looking for a high-performance everyday machine with the latest technological advancements for a lifestyle above the rest.

The new Sniper155 was tested out on the Carmona Racetrack where DJ Rico Robles was on-site to discuss the different features of Yamaha’s ultimate moped. It has an upgraded liquid-cooled 155cc SOHC 4-valve fuel-injected engine. It is now equipped with variable valve actuation (VVA) plus an assist and slipper clutch (A&S), and 6-speed transmission. Its individual ignition timing maps that efficiently draw out the power of the engine are a first for a Yamaha moped. The maps switch when the VVA system is active or inactive and there are separate maps for low speeds and high speeds. This makes the engine easy to use when in gear at low speeds, but also provides lasting pull at higher speeds.

Special guest Marlon Stockinger tries out the new Sniper155R.

Special guest and professional racecar driver Marlon Stockinger got the chance to test the ride and share his experience with the viewers. The new Sniper155R keeps the racing traits of the standard version but includes some add-ons fit for city rides. Its exclusive features combine high performance, advanced innovation, with a stylish design for a fast-paced and comfortable ride. These include the smart key system, front brake with 2-pot caliper, a 12V power socket, and a sports style seat made from a special material for comfort and grip.

Features common to the standard Sniper155 and the Sniper155R are the increased 5.4L fuel tank capacity, negative LCD instrument panel, and handlebar-mounted low LED beam headlights that shine in the same direction as the handlebars while the high beams are built into the body.

The new Sniper155 has an SRP of PHP 114,900 and is offered in the following colors: race blu, yellow hornet, and black raven. Meanwhile, the new Sniper155R comes in matte titan with an SRP of PHP 120,900. Both variants are now available at the YZONE, REV ZONES, and Yamaha 3S Shops nationwide.

The new Sniper155 and Sniper155R were launched digitally on the Yamaha Stadium online platform, in a presentation aptly themed “Yamaha Sports and Style: Ride above the Rev”. The Yamaha Stadium is a virtual sports news hub that provides details about the latest products, designs and concepts, and even updates from Yamaha’s racing program.

Also at the launch event, Yamaha Racing Philippines manager Jordan Cornista and Team Philippines racer Masato Fernando shared their continued preparation for future racing campaigns. It was also revealed that McKinley Kyle Paz, the mystery rider who tested the new Sniper155 on the racetrack, will be the 1st Filipino to compete in the FIM CEV REPSOL – Moto2 Category under the VR46 Junior Team. Paz is the 1st Filipino to be part of the highly exclusive VR46 and Overall Champion in the 150UB Category of the Asia Road Racing Championship.
