According to a Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc. (CAMPI) report, Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) began the year strong by selling 8,709 units this past January, a 46.7 percent share of the country’s automotive sales for the same month. The figure is a 23 percent growth over the same period last year and is 19 percent better than the industry as a whole. Leading the way were the Innova MPV and Vios sedan.
Additionally, TMP’s luxury brand Lexus, set a record month with 67 units sold topping the luxury automotive market, a 91 percent growth year-over-year.
TMP President Michinobu Sugata commented “It is encouraging that Toyota started the New Year strongly. Coming from a good performance last month, we are optimistic that demand will continue to be favourable because of positive economic outlook and confident consumer spending.”
