MobilityToyota Philippines Celebrates its 30th Anniversary

Toyota Philippines recently celebrated its three decades of strong partnership with its various stakeholders during its anniversary event, with Republic of the Philippines President Rodrigo Roa Duterte as guest-of-honor.

TMP president Satoru Suzuki expressed gratitude to the government, suppliers, dealers, business partners, and customers who have been and remains to be strong allies and supporters of Toyota. “We share this happy day with all of you who have stood with us in our
    journey,” said Suzuki.

“I firmly believe that the partnership we have developed and harnessed remains to be the strong backbone of Toyota’s success in the Philippines.” For sixteen consecutive years now, TMP has maintained its Triple Crown – being number one in passenger car sales, commercial vehicle sales, and overall sales. Last year, TMP sold over 180,000 units, four times greater than its volume 10 years ago. This significant growth has driven TMP to be at the Top 9 in terms of vehicle sales among Toyota global affiliates, and Top 4 in ASEAN – an important region in the global automotive scene.

TMP’s growth in the country has enabled the company to realize its commitment to contribute to the long-term development of the country through investments in manufacturing development of local parts supplier, transfer of technology, tax remittances, exports, and most importantly, provide employment opportunities, and implement social contribution activities as part of its corporate social responsibilities.

As TMP moves towards the future, TMP vice chairman Alfred V. Ty said the company has never been more dedicated to serve its stakeholders in making ‘always better cars and always better lives’.

With Toyota’s global mandate to move towards a cleaner and brighter tomorrow for the next generation, TMP will be more dedicated in working with various stakeholders towards attaining zero emissions with the use of more environment-friendly vehicles. Ty also talked about the shift in preference from ownership to ride-hailing and how Toyota is ready to take on a synergistic approach to long-term car-leasing and a modified ride-sharing business in collaboration with ride-hailing companies.

“TMP shall not only be a car manufacturer and distributor of quality and reliable vehicles, but, likewise, diversify into a mobility provider, combining efforts with our sister institutions and developing new strategic partnerships,” he added. Ty shared how Toyota will continue to evolve in the coming years, especially in addressing the customers’ various needs for cleaner and greener vehicles, mobility, and automotive
    technology.
