Smart, in a continuing bid to deliver truly useful, consumer-centered services to Filipinos, has just become the first telco in the world to offer a uniquely convenient way to pay for iOS apps, as well as make in-app purchases for iOS devices.
Smart’s new Pay With Mobile service allows iOS users on Smart’s prepaid and post-paid plans to make iOS purchases from iTunes, and within apps, right from their devices, charged to their mobile accounts. Registration couldn’t be simpler: Smart prepaid and postpaid subscribers need only register t the service, enroll their account in the iTunes store, and make purchases.
The service works by giving subscribers the ability to sign up for a Pay-With-Mobile number which they can use exclusively with their iTunes accounts. All app downloads, in-app purchases, and digital content bought using Pay-With-Mobile will be deducted from users’ prepaid load, or charged on top of their monthly postpaid bills.
“Smart understands that not everyone owns a credit card, but that shouldn’t stop people from realizing the full potential of their mobile devices. This is why we have worked hard to bring this groundbreaking service to Filipino users, which we believe will further revolutionize the way they enjoy their favorite lifestyle apps and content on their devices,” said Charles Lim, EVP and Wireless Consumer Division Head at Smart. “This is yet another way that Smart is making mobile Internet fun, fast, and worry-free for all of our subscribers.”
The service gives users a unique card number against which purchases are made, with the balance reflected in either their prepaid load or monthly postpaid bill.
“With more than 1 million apps available in the app store, as well as tons of music and movie content downloadable via iTunes, users will have endless amounts of entertainment wherever they go using their Apple devices,” Lim added.
