    On December 14, Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) President, Michinobu Sugata visited one of the manufacturer’s dealerships, Toyota Tacloban, following the devastation wreaked by super typhoon Yolanda.

    Through TMP’s top management, EVP for Marketing Yohei Murase and SVP for Marketing Jose Ariel T. Arias, the company gave out gift baskets to team members as a reminder to celebrate Christmas amidst the adversities. TMP also previously sent food and water supply to aid the employees after Yolanda struck the said dealership.

    TMP’s President expressed, “The Christmas spirit should live on in spite of the trials faced by our team members. These simple tokens that we have shared symbolize our continuous support and concern for the Toyota family. I am very glad that Toyota Tacloban’s President, Mr. Jimmy Yaokasin also serves as an inspiration to our team members in remaining strong and resilient especially in tough times like this.”

    Toyota Tacloban is currently the only automotive dealership that is open and operational in the aforementioned district.

    Isuzu Philippines Corporation (IPC) has recently turned over 20 brand new units of the CYZ51 10-wheeler dump truck to First Balfour, Inc., an engineering construction firm belonging to the Lopez Group of Companies, for its hauling and disposal requirements.

    The CYZ51 trucks were turned over in a ceremony held at IPC’s manufacturing plant in Laguna. Said model is powered by Isuzu’s 6WF1-TC engine, which is equipped with an intercooled turbocharger and a common rail direct injection (CRDI) fuel system. Rated to make 260 PS, the Euro III emission compliant engine allows the truck to carry 10 cubic-meters of load.

    This is not First Balfour, Inc.’s first acquisition of Isuzu models as it has previously purchased various Crosswind XL, and XT AUVs, D-MAX pickups, NHR-PV light-duty trucks and NQR buses since 2003.

    Consistent with its current advocacy—build a safe online environment for kids and teens—Trend Micro Incorporated partnered with SM Cyberzone to spread awareness on protecting personal information through online safety practices.

    A series of road shows were held at SM Cyberzones across Metro Manila:  SM Marikina, SM Southmall, and SM Sta. Mesa. The interactive booths were aimed at the young internet-proactive Filipinos. Teens took part in the social media persona quiz and later on protected their Facebook profiles with Trend Micro’s Titanium Privacy Scanner. Volunteers from Trend Micro imparted how significant it is to maintain a good online reputation.

    “Knowing the dangers of the Internet gives teens a better appreciation of the need to embrace safer online practices,” shares Myla Pilao, Trend Micro Inc. Director of TrendLabs Marketing Communications.  “More and more young people are surfing, communicating, and sharing information on the Internet without knowing the importance of protecting their online reputation. Teens probably don’t realize that what they consider to be regular behavior with friends is actually bad Internet etiquette, that posting what they think is a ‘funny’ photo of themselves might later cause them problems, or that posts about upcoming plans for a family trip out of the country may put their family or home in danger.”

    Since its inception 25 years ago, Trend Micro envisions of making the world safe for exchanging digital information.     Inviting Participants to the “What’s Your Story?” Internet Safety Video Competition

    Trend Micro invites Filipinos to participate in an online video competition called “What’s Your Story?” Interested participants can submit an original 30-second to 2-minute long video themed “How do a keep a good reputation online and what are the consequences of not doing so?”

    Entries may be submitted on the official competition website, http://whatsyourstory.trendmicro.ph, in either category:  Individual Category (for participants 18 years of age and older) or School category (for participants between 13 and 17 years old.)  Entries for the School category must be submitted by the participant’s teacher or guardian.

    The deadline of submission of entries is extended until January 5, 2014.

    Razer Comms finally goes mobile with its first Android app. It is the world’s first VoIP solution that allows gamers on the Razer Comms PC client to make calls and send messages from in-game to any Android device and vice versa.

    Razer claims that the app eliminates the need for gamers on the PC client to occasionally glance at their smartphones or leave a game while playing. It works just like any contemporary VoIP app as you’ll be able to use it with any Wi-Fi connection or over your phone’s existing data plan with no hidden cost.

    “Staying connected in today’s world has become increasingly important and gamers are no exception to that,” says Min-Liang Tan, Razer co-founder, CEO and creative director.

    The Android app is available for free at the Play Store. An iOS version is underway and will be available by Q1 of 2014.

    In the 1940s, most wall calendars had one thing in common: there was a beautiful woman flashing her pearly whites, confidently flaunting her curves through poses that were a mix of sweetness, seduction and sophistication. Pin-up girls were what got any man counting the days to the new year.

    The thing about Glaiza de Castro is that she has the same sweetness, natural sexiness and confidence, which is why she is rightfully our pin-up girl for the celebration of the coming year. Her beauty channels the lasting appeal of both the pin-up tradition and the tech toys in our wishlist.

    Glaiza is no stranger to timelessness. If there’s anything that has a lasting appeal in Glaiza’s life, it’s music. Learning guitar at 13 and composing songs at 16, she discovered early on that she had the chops to make music. She used to have a band, but her most recent music projects are solo efforts.

    Since she’s such a music junkie, we asked her about her favorite holiday tune, to which she piped happily in reply, “Here we are as in olden days / Happy golden days of yore.” Said Glaiza, “’Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas’ is just jam-packed with messages of joy.”

    Indeed, the cheery and spirited Glaiza just loves her dose of delight, especially now that she’s excited to start the new year. As she welcomes 2014, Glaiza raises a toast to lessening procrastination and leading a healthier lifestyle.
