Due to COVID-19, many social activities are being turned into online events including an annual Pride March in Manila being enabled by Google Maps this year.

“Pride March From Home: United for Covid Relief” is a project led by Pride@Tech, a group of employees from tech companies and community volunteers. Their initiative for the online Pride March this year is using Google Maps to enable people to show solidarity for the annual traditions of Pride March while staying safe at home. Towards the end, marchers can make a donation that will go to LGBTQ+ communities affected by the coronavirus pandemic. To participate in the virtual Pride March on June 27, Saturday at 3:00PM

    1. Go to marchforpride.com.
    2. Create a virtual march route. You can nominate any local destination.
    3. Pick a rainbow color for your route line.
    4. Make your route count by writing a caption.
    5. Choose any of the following: share on social media, march again, or donate. All proceeds will go to LGBTQ+ communities affected by COVID-19.

“We believe in the power of technology like Google Maps in bringing possibilities. The virtual Pride March this year not only continues to show the resilience of the LGBTQ+ community but the helpfulness of the digital space to further unite people for a cause wherever they are in the world,” said Marv Echipare, co-founder of Pride@Tech and product support strategy manager at Google.
