ArchivesArchos unveils 7-inch GamePad tablet, packs physical controls and Android 4.0

Archos seems to think that there’s enough Android gamers out there that want a device with physical keys – at least that’s what their recently unveiled GamePad tablet suggests. This niche Android tablet packs a 7-inch touchscreen display flanked by physical controls which Archos says has its own game recognition and mapping tools, which we assume map the physical keys to the virtual ones on Android games. Archos has also said that the GamePad has already achieved compatibility with 1,000 titles in the Google Play store, with more on the way. The GamePad is powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core processor and has a quad-core Mali 400 MP GPU for rendering graphics, and will ship with Android 4.0 out of the box. No solid price nor Philippine availability at this point, but the company has promised a less than €150 price point (about Php 7966) when it ships in the US and Europe later this October. Let’s hope someone ships this device here, eh?
