First-person shooter (FPS) game Bioshock Infinite will hit Philippine shores on March 26, and will be distributed locally through local video game publisher and distributor X-Play Online Games, Inc. Formerly known as Project Icarus, Bioshock Infinite was developed by Irrational Games and won over 75 editorial awards, including the Game Critics Awards’ Beast of Show at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in 2011.

Bioshock Infinite was set in a parallel 1912, and the player plays as former Pinkerton Agent Booker DeWitt. Unlike past games in the Bioshock series, Booker plays in a lot less claustrophobic circumstances, tasked to retrieve a woman named Elizabeth in the air city of Columbia. Booker then gets caught in a conflict between two factions, with Elizabeth at the center of it all. Using a combo of weapons and psychokinetic powers that are augmented by Elizabeth’s own strange abilities, players have to fight their way past the mysterious Songbird, out of the flying city and ultimately survive Bioshock Infinite.

Players can fight from high-speed Sky-Lines, in the streets and houses of Columbia, on giant zeppelins and even in the clouds, while learning how to master a various arsenal or weapons and abilities. “We are very excited with our latest FPS offering,” said Ron Aquino, GM of X-Play. “This game definitely offers a refereshing breadth of features that players look for in an FPS game that they cannot find in other titles.” Aquino also said, “Bioshock Infinite enables players to immerse in a story that is not only steeped in profound thrills and surprises, but also invests in its characters that will surely set the bar in gaming.”

You can pre-order through any of X-Play’s accredited retailers, such as A-Deals (www.a-deals.com/home), Achieve, Brochiere, Netopia, Game Extreme, Gameline/GameGizmo/Teke, and iTech. If you pre-order a copy, you can also avail of a free soundtrack and gear DLC—all one has to do is provide their contact information to any of the retailers, and a DLC code will be sent via SMS or e-mail. This offer expires at midnight on March 27, 2013.

Players can also buy the Premium Edition of the game, which includes a Murder of Crows key chain, Handyman game resin-cast figuring, lithograph print and an art book. For those wanting to collect even more Bioshock paraphernalia, the Songbird Edition will come with a rare 9.5 inch statue of Elizabeth’s mysterious and powerful jailer, the Songbird. Both the Premium and Songbird editions come with exclusive in-game gear as well.

Bioshock Infinite will be available in stores for PC (PHP 1,895, Standard Edition; PHP 3,295, Premium Edition; PHP 6,495, Songbird Edition); PS3 (PHP 2,295, Standard Edition; PHP 3,350, Premium Edition, PHP 6,495, Songbird Edition); and Xbox (PHP 2,095, Standard Edition, PHP 3,350, Premium Edition, PHP 6,495, Songbird Edition).
