Germany Drone DeliveryIn a step that clearly doesn’t bode well for the survival of the human race, DHL, the world’s leading logistics company, has started exploring the use of drones to deliver packages. The test, which involved an unmanned aerial vehicle and a 3Kg medicine package, was carried out in Bonn, Germany, in order to test the feasibility of delivering urgent packages to areas with limited access via traditional transport.

The yellow “PaketKopter” transported the package at an altitude of 50M, for a distance of 1KM, and completed the test successfully.

“We are at the beginning of the research project,” said DHL manager Ole Nordhoff, adding that the technology is quite exciting.
This makes a lot of sense, saving the company costs in terms of fuel, people and the hassle of getting places that are much simpler to approach via rotating-win aircraft, but it also allows the robots to know where you live, which might give them an edge in the now-inevitable robotic uprising. Watch the skies, people. They’ll come from the skies.
