Committed to better serve the government in achieving efficiency through the use of technology, Microsoft Philippines teams up with the Department of Trade and Industry in utilizing the DTI Price Monitoring App for Windows tablets to boost responsible pricing in the market

As a strategic move and to move away from the tedious manual pen and paper process, field personnel’s of DTI will be equipped with the DTI Price Monitoring App before the end of 2013. The app installed in over 100 Windows 8 Acer W510 tablets, aims to help DTI staffs to monitor the prices of basic necessities and prime commodities in public markets and supermarkets better.

This new and present system will help DTI to monitor pricing more cost-effectively, and at the same time record and report data sharply in real time. Likewise, this will modernize the whole monitoring process. Ultimately allowing personnel’s to get more work done which will result in an increased number of regulated vendors adhering to pricing policies.

“At Microsoft Philippines, it is our sincere commitment to create a lasting impact in the country that we are part of through our innovative devices and services,” said Karrie Ilagan, General Manager of Microsoft Philippines. “In line, we take pride to be a partner of the Department of Trade and Industry in its mission to enable businesses and to empower consumers through a technology-led price monitoring system. With this initiative, we look forward to helping enable a better marketplace where consumers are protected.”

“The Department of Trade and Industry takes an active role in shaping the country to be globally competitive with a strong industry and services sector. We can accelerate the achievement of this goal if we have a healthy marketplace where people abide by the rules and regulations. Our partnership with Microsoft enabled us to optimize technology as a tool in reinforcing DTI policies including price implementation in the market. This represents our high regard for innovation as a prerequisite in building a healthy business ecosystem and in facilitating the general welfare of the consumers,” said Undersecretary Nora Terrado of the Department of Trade and Industry.
