Timepiece brand Edwin Watch has been launched locally, bringing with it its subculture-inspired products that blend classic aesthetics, durable craftsmanship, and affordability. For its initial foray into the local market, the brand will be carried by Newtrends International Corporation.
Edwin Watch is an offshoot from Tsunemi Yohehachi’s Edwin Denim Japanese jeans. During the launch event, brand manager J Brian Siswojo narrated how the watch reflects nontraditional lifestyles, stating that they choose the barbershop imagery because of its status as a melting pot of these subcultures. True to its identity, Edwin Watch was unveiled at the Ortigas Branch of Felipe and Sons—a barbershop and haberdashery rolled into one—further cementing the status of both as forerunners in bringing swag to their customers.
The watchmaker has three main product lines, namely Lifestyle, Classic, and Women’s.
The Lifestyle Collection is influenced by the skateboarding culture and is aptly represented by brand ambassador Kenny Anderson. Nicknamed “Perfect Gentleman,” Anderson is a professional skateboarder with over 15 years of highly finessed and stylish experience on the board. The Classic Collection takes after the unconventional appeal of barbers, artists, motorcyclists, musicians, and actors with its modern take on vintage designs. Lastly, the Women’s Collection reflects the influential females of the 1950s and 60s courtesy of its metropolitan and impeccable styling.
Edwin Watch is currently available in Watch Republic branches in Festival Mall, Market Market, Robinsons Manila, SM Cebu, SM Fairview, SM Manila, SM Seaside Cebu, SM Southmall, and Trinoma; and in Felipe and Sons Barberdasheries in Makati and Ortigas.
