Facebook has unveiled today a new feature that they will be introducing to their service soon. Dubbed Graph Search Beta, the new service basically allows you conduct relevant searches to your interests specifically tailored to your profile. For example, if you want to search which one of your friends are into dancing, for example, you type into the Graph Search Bar “which one of my friends like to dance” and you’ll then see a list of all your friends who list dancing as their interest. It’s a quick and efficient way to sift through your connections, and as Facebook says, allows you to forge new connections with people that have the same interest as you.

For people who are privacy nuts, you needn’t be concerned. Graph Search only collates and presents results that are for public consumption, and will still respect your privacy settings. The first version of Graph Search will be centered around four main areas: people (“friends who live in my city,” “people from my hometown who like hiking,” “friends of friends who have been to Yosemite National Park”), photos (“photos I like,” “photos of my family,” “photos of my friends before 1999,”), places (“restaurants in San Francisco,” “cities visited by my family,” “Indian restaurants liked by my friends from India,”) and interests (“music my friends like,” “movies liked by people who like movies I like,” “languages my friends speak”).

Graph Search Beta is currently in Beta and will be rolled out very slowly. If you’d like to get in on the action, you can go to Facebook’s Graph Search Beta signup page at https://www.facebook.com/about/graphsearch.
