Globe Telecom has given its GEN3 Greenbelt hub the Star Wars makeover in anticipation of the premiere of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the latest chapter in the space epic saga. Various Star Wars merchandise including Funko Pop! vinyl figures, Sphero’s BB-8 smartphone-controlled droid, and a Battle Pod arcade game, as well as Star Wars-themed accessories and gadgets are now available in the said store for fans to play with and purchase.
The transformation was brought to consumers via a partnership Globe and Disney forged earlier this year. It follows Globe’s recent carriage of the BB-8 droid, with other offers and events already in the pipeline—including a Star Wars compound at Fort Bonifacio, and a Star Wars party to be held at an undisclosed location—all leading up to the December 17 premiere of The Force Awakens.
Additionally, Star Wars freebies will be given away with select postpaid plans, on top of the 10,000 tickets to be raffled off for the first week of screening.
“Our collaboration with Disney and its brands such as Star Wars allows us to bring more wonderful experiences to our customers: from exclusive theatrical releases to innovative offerings. As the Star Wars fever heightens in the Philippines, we want to ensure that we do not just give our customers exclusive access to the premiere but also transport them into the Star Wars galaxy. From arcade games like the Star Wars: Battle Pod available in our GEN3 stores to gadgets and toys such as the BB-8 Droid by Sphero as part of our digital connectors line-up, we want our customers to be part of a complete Star Wars experience with all these offerings,” said Dan Horan, senior advisor for consumer business at Globe.
