In a sign that bodes very well for Mi phone users all over the world, MIUI 6 has just been released as a Beta for Chinese versions of the Mi 3 and Mi 4 (for those that have them.) The latest version of the OS bares a striking similarity to iOS 7, which really isn’t getting any complaints from us.
The current openly available version of the custom ROM, V5, is widely available for a wide array of Android devices, and comes stock in all of Xiaomi’s phones, including the Redmi 1s due to hit the Philippines in a few days.
Some of the updates to the latest version of MIUI include gesture controls, more daily, location-, and activity-based integration, and its own theme editor, for those who want a custom touch to their device.
We might not actually have to wait that long for some MIUI V6 action. At the Redmi 1s launch, Hugo Barra did say in passing that if the LTE-enabled Mi 4 will hit the Philippines this year, it may do so at the end of 2014. LEt’s hope he’s right. We’ll let you know as soon as we get more information on the device, the OS and any more Xiaomi news we can get our hands on, including a Redmi 1s first look. Stay tuned!
