Smart Communications, a leading telecommunication company offering mobile phone and Internet service in the country and to Filipinos around the world, has earned back-to-back international recognition for its seamless services and corporate social responsibility projects.
During the Asia Communication Awards (ACA)—the award giving body which recognizes the achievements of Asia’s communication companies—held last June 20 in Singapore, Smart was awarded three citations that night, bagging the Best Content Service for SmartNet, a mobile application which allows people to use a suite of widely used applications Twitter, Facebook, and the like with no data charges; the Social Contribution Award for Project Zero, an empowering livelihood and environmental initiative for an Iloilo community; and an honorable mention in the ACA’s Best Place to Work Category based on a survey ACA initiated among employees from different countries in the region.
Project Visa, Smart’s customer service program also snagged the prestigious Gold Quill, which is a global symbol of excellence in business communication. This project encourages Smart’s 56 million subscribers to use self-care channels to for speedy completion of countless customer service transactions.
Topping the roster of Smart’s recognition is the country’s first ever Grand Prix citation at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity (touted as the Oscars of advertising). In partnership with creative agency DM9JaymeSyfu, they won the mobile category for Smart Txtbks, a campaign that involved the conversion of textbooks and workbooks into SIM content that could be read by public school children using affordable analog phones, with the intention of aiding students in reducing the underlying circumstances of carrying heavy books.
“We are happy that Smart was recognized on three fronts – for providing exemplary service to our subscribers, for implementing a life-changing program for a marginalized community, and for being an outstanding employer to its 5,000 workers,” said Smart President and Chief Executive Officer Napoleon Nazareno.
“These awards inspire us to continue coming up with world-class services and corporate social responsibility programs for Filipinos,” he added.
Congratulations Smart!
