Since the Whitehouse officially shot down (hurr hurr) the previous call to build a death star a few weeks back, the rest of the dark side-backed world has taken matters into its own hands. THIS Kickstarter project is seeking to raise enough funding to get its own Death Star project off the ground and orbiting the nearest rebel planet in short order. Right now, the initial goal is to raise GBP 20,000,000 (about USD 31.6M) to create more detailed plans and “enough chicken wire to protect reactor exhaust ports.” They also have a stretch goal of GBP 543,000,000,000,000,00 (about USD850,000,000,000,000,000) which will allow them to begin actual construction. The project leads have ensured that open-source software and hardware will be used in order to keep the project costs reasonable.
