Previously launched in Google Play and the AppStore for Android and iOS users, respectively, Vibe Reader can now be enjoyed by Microsoft patrons as the Windows 8 version of the universal e-reading application was declared available for download at the Windows Store last April 11th .
Platforms such as desktops, laptops, and tablets running Windows 8 can now download the Vibe Reader and start browsing e-books, Vibal Publishing textbooks, and other digital materials. The app is currently installed in more than 8,000 devices across the Philippines, and majority of the users are students who access e-textbooks.
Similar to other e-reading applications, Vibe enables bibliophiles to customize their reading preferences by increasing and decreasing the size of the text, bookmarking a favorite page with a single tap and skipping one chapter to the next with the use of the slide bar. The Windows 8 version also incorporates basic e-reader features: bookmarking, changing to grid or list view, sorting content by title or author, importing files, downloading books (http://www.vibebookstore.com), adding notes to pages or sections, accessing chapters through the table of contents or the chapter finder, and being able to change page settings, including font style and background color.
Vibe Reader was developed by Filipino software engineers from Vibe Technologies, Inc., the technology arm of the Vibal Publishing House.
