With storms hitting up Metro Manila, it’s a hassle to wait for a cab to come by during the heavy rain pour. Thankfully, it’s now easier and safer to hail a cab with the app, GrabTaxi.
GrabTaxi is an easy-to-use app that lets you book a cab from anywhere in Metro Manila. The app is free but there’s a Php70 booking fee to cover the driver’s cost of getting to you. The meter only starts once the driver arrives so it’s a fair price to pay for assurance and safety.
To get started, you simply have to type your pick-up location and your destination. Common pick-up points and establishments around the area will also be suggested. The app auto-detects your location so you can opt for the app to pre-fill your pickup point. A note bar at the bottom allows you to give the driver special instructions.
After entering your location details, GrabTaxi will detect the nearby cabs and gives you an estimate cab fare. Once you hit ‘Book’, they bid on the passenger and a driver is assigned.
The app will provide the taxi driver’s name, plate number, and estimated time of arrival. You can directly track his location on the map, or call/message the driver in case anything comes up. If you want to be extra safe, you can “share-your-ride” on SMS, Facebook, or Twitter, so that your loved ones know the details of your taxi ride.
