Filipino commuters now have another ride-hailing option through Lalamove Ride, the passenger transport service built into the same app widely used for on-demand deliveries.
The service allows users to book both passenger trips and deliveries without downloading a separate app or learning a new platform. Lalamove positions the offering as an additional option for commuters facing long waits, limited vehicle availability, and repeated cancellations during periods of high demand.
Addressing booking fatigue
Securing a ride can become another source of delay for commuters already dealing with Metro Manila traffic. When demand exceeds the number of available vehicles, passengers may have to switch between platforms, repeat bookings, or wait for fares and vehicle supply to stabilize.
Lalamove describes this experience as booking fatigue, where commuters lose time and patience before the journey even begins. The company says its existing driver network can help increase the number of available ride-hailing vehicles during busy periods.
“A major pain point of commuters is that there are not enough available cars at the exact hours everyone needs one,” said Djon Nacario, managing director of Lalamove Philippines. “At Lalamove, we believe solving mobility challenges starts with making rides more accessible and dependable for everyday commuters.”
According to Nacario, Lalamove has nearly 20,000 qualified ride-hailing partner drivers already operating on the platform. The company aims to use this network and its existing technology infrastructure to provide commuters with another option when demand is high.
Passenger rides in the Lalamove app
Lalamove entered the Philippine ride-hailing market in February 2025, extending its platform beyond on-demand deliveries. Passengers can now book rides by opening the existing Lalamove app and selecting the Ride service.
Users enter their pick-up point and destination before choosing between two vehicle categories. Car is intended for regular passenger trips, while Car XL is available for larger groups or passengers carrying more luggage.
The service covers NCR, Cavite, Laguna, Rizal, and Bulacan, along with selected parts of Pampanga and Tarlac. Longer point-to-point journeys may also be booked when the destination falls within an available service area.
Zero commission for partner drivers
Lalamove is allowing qualified Ride partner drivers to retain 100% of passenger fares under a zero-commission initiative. Introduced in December 2025, the arrangement has been extended until the end of 2026.
Qualified partner drivers may accept both delivery and passenger bookings after completing the required registration. Lalamove expects the arrangement to encourage more drivers to accept Ride bookings, which could help improve vehicle availability for passengers.
“Commission stays at 0% for the rest of the year, with no conditions or catch,” Nacario said. “When partner drivers take home one hundred percent of every fare with zero deductions, they have a real reason to accept more Ride bookings, and every accepted booking is one less commuter left waiting.”
Safety features for riders and drivers
Lalamove Ride combines platform-based safety tools with driver registration and operational requirements. These measures are intended to support both passengers and partner drivers throughout a booked journey.
Features include real-time GPS tracking, 24/7 in-app chat support, and an SOS emergency button. Accident insurance provided by Chubb is also included, while prospective drivers must complete Lalamove’s registration process before accepting passenger bookings.
Ride promotions for passengers and drivers
Passengers who opt in to the “Ride Your Way to Your Next Getaway” mission receive one raffle entry for every completed ride. The grand prize is a trip for two to Japan that includes round-trip flights, hotel accommodation, pocket money, and a day tour.
The passenger promotion runs until September 30, 2026, under DTI Fair Trade Permit No. FTEB-238247, Series of 2026. Participation requirements and full promotional terms should be reviewed in the Lalamove app.
A separate “Drive & Win a Family Trip to Boracay” raffle is available to eligible Ride partner drivers until the same date. Drivers receive tiered entries based on completed ride orders and may also qualify for weekly PHP1,500 GCash draws.
Another option for everyday travel
For existing Lalamove users, Ride provides another service within an app already installed on their phones. The familiar booking process and ability to choose between passenger and delivery services are intended to make the platform easier to adopt.
Passengers can book by opening the Lalamove app and selecting Ride. Qualified drivers can apply through the Lalamove Driver app, while further service information is available on the Lalamove Ride website.
