Isuzu Philippines Corporation (IPC) has made locally available the MU-X, their latest flagship sports utility vehicle that’s fitted with advanced technological and design features fitting for a successor to the now discontinued Alterra nameplate.

The MU-X boasts of an improved 4JK1-TC 2.5-liter diesel engine with Common Rail Direct Injection and intercooled Variable Geometry System turbocharger technologies that enhance turbine response to eliminate lags in power delivery. It’s rated to produce 136Ps @ 3,400rpm and tops at 320Nm of torque from 1,800 to 2,800rpm. It’s mated with either a 5-speed manual or 5-speed automatic transmission with sequential shift function.

Helping the nameplate conquer rough terrains is its 4WD Terrain Command Select Dial, 230mm ground clearance and 17-inch alloy wheels.

Aesthetics-wise, its contours and character lines unite in a form that slices through the air for improved fuel mileage. Adding to the vehicle’s sporty look are projector-type multi-reflector headlamps, center roof antenna, color-keyed front and rear bumpers, and roof rails capable of holding up to 60 kilograms of baggage.

Up to 7 people can easily hunker down in its spacious interior, with a specially designed suspension system providing a car-like riding comfort. Premium leather covers for the seat, steering wheel, and door trims; 7-inch touchscreen display; six-speaker multimedia system with various connectivity options; built-in navigation; dual climate control with rear coolers; and various other premium features dot the MU-X’s cabin.

The nameplate comes in three variants, the most advanced of which is the LS-A which arrives in either a four-wheel or two-wheel drive configuration with a 5-speed automatic transmission and additional features on top of those listed here. There’s also the middle ground LS-M and the entry-level LS, both fitted with a two-wheel-drive system and a 5-speed manual transmission.

The MU-X LS M/T 4×2 is priced at PHP 1.188 million; PHP 1.260 million for the MU-X LS-M M/T 4×2; The MU-X LS-A A/T 4×2 ships at PHP 1.358 million; and the highest variant, the MU-X LS-A A/T 4×4, has a tag of PHP 1.748 million. All these come with a variety of color options, namely: splash white, silky pearl white, cosmic black, titanium silver, aqua blue, and outback brown.
