grabBuilding on the wildly successful GrabTaxi service that has brought convenience and safety to commuters all over the city, Southeast Asia’s largest taxi booking mobile app has just launched GrabCar. GrabCar aims to provide an even better on-demand commuting experience to those who want the convenience of a private driver without the hassle of owning a vehicle.

The service provides even more options to GrabTaxi users be offering a fleet of privately-owned and operated cars to shuttle them to their destinations. Like GrabTaxi, GrabCar offers private car drivers the opportunity to build on their income by providing them with a much wider user-base and an efficient driver-to-passenger matching.

“What has ensured GrabTaxi’s success in Philippines has been its ability to adapt and evolve to meet our user’s needs. That’s why we are introducing GrabCar; we see that there is an opportunity to fill a gap in the industry without taking away business from our core user-base of taxis. GrabCar will give our passengers that upmarket personalized experience while ensuring a fun and authentic ride,” said GrabTaxi Co-founder Anthony Tan. “GrabCar not only gives consumers more options, it will also be positive for taxi drivers in the GrabTaxi network. This will increase the volume of cars available to passengers and build consumer confidence and loyalty in GrabTaxi, eventually leading to more people using the GrabTaxi platform and more rides for taxi drivers,” he added.

Current GrabTaxi users already have access to the GrabCar service. Rides can be booked in the same manner, with an option to choose either the Car or Taxi service. Driver information, vehicle information and the estimated fare are all displayed within the app, ensuring the utmost convenience for anyone who needs a ride. Vehicles available for the service include the Nissan Teana and  Toyota Camry as well as the Toyota Fortuner and Nissan Patrol.
