In a bid to help those devastated by typhoon Yolanda, LG Philippines has offered affected communities the LG Service Camp. From March 14 to March 20, representatives from LG visited areas in tacloban that received the brunt of Yolanda’s wrath. The LG Service Camp offered free appliance and mobile phone cleaning and repeir to all affected. Lg volunteers also extended help to medical missions, as well as free labada days to those who needed it.

“As planned, we implemented LG Service Camp when the overwhelming situation of Tacloban somewhat stabilized,” said Mr. Sung Woo Nam, managing director of LG Electronics Philippines.  “The state of the nation is much improved from how it was months ago, but there is still a long way to go for these residents.  As a unified corporation and community, LG will continue our pledge to support them throughout this difficulty.”

Last year, the company had donated $500,000 (approximately P22 million) cash through the Philippine Red Cross while employees took the initiative to make their own cash contributions and raise a total of $10,000.  Donations in kind worth P400,000 to beneficiary organization Sagip Kapamilya, as well as pre-packed relief goods directly to Tacloban.

Earlier this year, LG partnered with the Department of Energy and installed LG Solar Panels in Tolosa Elementary School and Tanauan High School in Tacloban to generate and sustain electricity.  Mr. Nam was among the group that visited the areas and facilitated the safe and strategic installations.

LG is determined to keep helping, and even as the days pass since the weather turned, their aid continues.
