The first victory of the Next Gen Console war has been won. Sony has managed to sell 1 million units of their PlayStation 4 in the 24 hours since it launched in the US and Canada. This isn’t unexpected, but a little on the fast side, as it has yet to launch in other territories. It is turning out to be their fastest-selling gaming device, beating out the previous title-holder, the PlayStation 2. One of its two contenders, the Nintendo WiiU has only managed to sell about 3.9 million units, while Microsoft’s Xbox One is yet to launch. With numbers like this, it’s hard to imagine this is going to be a very close fight for holiday cash.
