Ford Philippines delivered another solid retail performance for the first six months of the year, with overall sales reaching 14,460 units.
The Ford Ranger and Ford Everest led the automaker’s market sales performance. Sales of the Ford Ranger increased by 29 percent from last year to 6,872 units, and those of the Ford Everest grew by 20 percent to 4,536 units. The Ford Territory also contributed to overall sales, reaching 2,771 units.

The same team vets aspiring rider-partners who will move on to the next phase of the MOVE IT onboarding process, which is the mandatory Driver Guidelines Orientation and Training. This program — designed after principles and guidelines set by the HONDA Road Safety team — places a strong emphasis on road safety and rider conduct, ensuring MOVE IT’s full compliance with established government standards.
In addition to the certification program, the MOVE IT assessment and upskilling team also participates in courses on analytical driving, motorcycle dynamics, and the practical application of topics like motorcycle handling, corrective riding posture, and traffic rules and regulations.
MOVE IT has also co-developed road safety courses with the HONDA Safety Driving Center, which are integrated into its orientation process and are made accessible to every rider via the in-app learning platform MOVE IT Academy.
Boosting MOVE IT’s Emergency Response Unit with the Philippine Red Cross
In a move towards enhancing safety and response measures, MOVE IT fortified its partnership with the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) for an advanced training program designed specifically for the members of its Emergency Response Unit (ERU). The ERU is composed of volunteer rider leaders and a dedicated contingent from the MOVE IT team.

This initiative seeks to set new standards in emergency response and assistance in the motorcycle taxi industry. The training program encompasses a wide range of topics crucial for emergency preparedness and response, including Emergency Action Principle, Basic First Aid, Environmental Emergencies, and Special Situations.
Following the completion of workshop sessions with the PRC, the ERU members undergo further evaluation before being officially deployed as emergency responders.
The ERU responds to road incidents reported through the platform via the MOVE IT Hotline, the in-app Safety Center, or the Emergency SOS Button. They conduct a quick assessment of the situation, provide comprehensive on-site support, and facilitate communication with riders, passengers, and their families.
Lastly, the ERU administers basic first aid when required, while remaining to defer to professional medics for full-fledged medical attention and action.

When it comes to gimbals, there’s no better name than DJI. Beyond their great drones, DJI is a master in gimbals and stabilizers. The DJI RS-series has often led the industry when it comes to performance, features, and innovation. As the brand’s newest flagship gimbal, how does the DJI RS 4-series stack up? We find out with the DJI RS 4.
Design: 4/5
The DJI RS 4 series comes in two variants, the DJI RS 4 and the DJI RS 4 Pro. The RS 4 Pro is the flagship gimbal, with some key professional features not found in the base RS 4. However, essentially, the base RS 4 has the same core as the pro variant, the only difference being the size and maximum payload capacity.
The DJI RS 4 retains the signature DJI RS look and feel. It’s mostly black but has red accents around the gimbal, similar to the old RS 2 and the more recent RS 3. Build-wise, you can’t go wrong with the DJI RS series: it’s sturdy and premium, yet at the same time, it’s lightweight and compact. It carries over the aluminum build from the older RS-series gimbals, hence the lightweight and sturdy build.
Additionally, parts of the gimbal are coated with Teflon, making movement much smoother.
Looking at the DJI RS 4, you’ll be greeted with a 1.8-inch touchscreen OLED display. Beneath the display is the joy stick (more on this later), the record button, and a programmable button (M button). On the right, the base is the gimbal mode and the power button. On the front is the trigger, and the front dial. And on the left, is the joystick mode, the Ronin Series Accessory (RSA) port. The battery indicator is also found on the left side of the gimbal.
When assembled, the rig (with grip and grip extend/tripod) weighs just over 1.450 kg. For comparison, a MacBook Air weighs 1.2 kg, just 200 g lighter. When I add my camera (a Sony ZV-E10) with a lens, the total weight goes to just over 2 kg.
Additionally, the DJI RS 4 comes with a carrying case that fits all of the included accessories. The DJI RS 4 Combo comes with the DJI Focus Pro Motor, an accessory that controls the camera lens’s zoom or focus rings.
Hardware: 4.5/5
The DJI RS 4 has a maximum payload of 3kg. It can carry most mirrorless and even some higher-end DSLRs with larger lenses. You can also check out the DJI website for the complete list of compatible cameras with the DJI RS 4.
At the heart of the DJI RS 4 are massive improvements from the DJI RS 3. First and foremost is a slightly longer arm than the RS 3 which allows for more accessories to fit on the camera without any balancing issues. Another great improvement is on the horizon plate, which makes shifting to vertical shooting a breeze. It’s tool-less; just release the panel and attach it vertically, and you’re good to go. There’s also a new RSA port, a great addition if you have Ronin accessories like the DJI Ronin Image Transmitter.
Making a return to the RS 4 series is DJI’s automated axis lock feature. This is honestly a game-changer for most content creators who struggle with packing up. When you’re done shooting just power off and the whole gimbal snaps neatly back into place.
But undoubtedly the biggest update is the Joystick controls. The DJI RS 4 now supports joystick control for zooming. You can still use the front dial for zooming, but having the joystick mode adds a bit more versatility.
Apart from the hardware updates, there are also software improvements, particularly in terms of stabilization. The DJI RS 4 features DJI’s latest 4th Gen RS Stabilization Algorithm, which improves on vertical shooting.
The gimbal itself has a maximum rotation speed of 360 degrees/s for the Pan, Tilt, and Roll axes, while the motors’ mechanical range is 360 degrees continuous rotation for the Pan Axis, -95 to 240 degrees for the Roll Axis, and -112 to 214 degrees for the Tilt Axis.
Finally, in terms of battery, the included battery grip has a 3000mAh capacity. DJI has rated the battery for 12 hours of max runtime. Charging took us around 4 hours, but that’s utilizing a non-PD charger. According to DJI, you can expect 2.5 hours of charging with an 18W PD charger.
User Experience: 4/5
The DJI RS 4 is the first “commercial/pro” gimbal I’ve tested, so I was understandably a bit worried when I first started using it.
The DJI RS 4 can be a bit daunting for first-time users. When you open the carrying case, you’ll be greeted with various parts. You’ll also need to download the DJI Ronin app to start using the gimbal.
Fortunately, the DJI Ronin does have everything you need to start setting up and using the DJI RS 4. You’ll find tutorial videos on the app itself on how to assemble the RS 4. After that, there’s also a tutorial on how to balance the gimbal. Once you’ve done everything, there are also tips on how to elevate your shooting skills.
There are also a lot of other features you can do within the DJI Ronin App. There’s balancing, remote controls (including a virtual joystick), personalized profiles, and, if you have a DJI Ronin Image Transmitter, access to RavenEye to turn your phone into a camera monitor.
Even for a first-time user, the DJI RS 4 was easy to handle. The gimbal’s weight made it manageable, and once fully set up, controls are fairly intuitive. There is still a small learning curve to perfect operating the gimbal, like knowing when to adjust carefully or to fully learn the camera’s features. That said, once you get the hang of the gimbal, it feels satisfying.
What also surprised me was the auto-lock feature. Once enabled, the DJI RS 4 automatically folds itself when turned off or put to sleep. Once you turn on the RS 4, the gimbal automatically returns to your balanced setup, allowing you to continue shooting.
The DJI RS 4 also supports Bluetooth connection to your camera. The setup is simple: just open your camera’s Bluetooth and the RS 4’s Bluetooth, and you’re good to go. Connecting to Bluetooth allows you to control your camera directly on the gimbal. This eliminates fumbling around the camera’s shutter or record button that could mess up crucial moments.

Real-time payment transactions in the Philippines posted a 24% year-on-year growth in 2023, with transaction volume reaching 777 million and expected to hit 1.54 billion by 2028, according to the 2024 Prime Time for Real Time Report published by ACI Worldwide, a leader in real-time payments, in partnership with GlobalData, a leading data and analytics company. Real-time payments pertain to the immediate transfer of funds 24/7 within a matter of seconds to the recipient’s account.
According to the report, the real-time payments’ share of all digital payments in the country is projected to grow to 58.7% by 2028, while its transaction value is expected to reach USD 209.6 billion in the same year. As of 2023, real-time payments accounted for 47.2% of all Philippine digital payments, with a transaction value of USD89.5 billion.
In 2018, InstaPay was introduced as the first real-time payment system in the Philippines. This served as one of the critical rails for the national government’s thrust to digitize payments through the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Digital Payments Transformation Roadmap. The launch of the BSP’s national quick response standard, QR Ph, in November 2019 further boosted familiarity with InstaPay by providing consumers with a faster and more convenient way to make person-to-person fund transfers by simply scanning a QR code.
“Real-time payments hold the potential to facilitate greater economic growth and financial inclusion in the Philippines by eliminating payment friction and injecting greater liquidity in the financial system. As Filipinos continue to embrace digitization, we encourage the local banks and financial institutions to harness technological innovations that will enable them to fully leverage the capabilities of real-time transactions,” said Leslie Choo, senior vice president, managing director – APAC, ACI Worldwide.
The surge in digital payments—including real-time payments—in the Philippines accelerated during the COVID-19 pandemic and prompted the shift towards a cashless economy. According to the report, it addresses a growing consumer demand for simpler, speedier and more secure transactions, which Filipino consumers indicated as the top reasons for using digital payment tools.
The report has found that there is a strong correlation between real-time payments growth and mobile wallet adoption. The Philippines is ranked fifth in the top 10 countries globally in terms of mobile wallet adoption, with 88% of Filipinos having used a mobile wallet in the past year. ACI Worldwide’s report also revealed that QR codes, mobile wallets and bank accounts are the main authorization methods used by Filipino consumers to initiate real-time payments. With growing consumer demand for real-time payment methods, businesses are set to follow suit.
Meanwhile, the BSP is set to join the Regional Payment Connectivity initiative, which aims to link all Association of Southeast Asian Nations countries under a single QR code-based system and presents a potential use case for real-time cross-border payments in the Philippines. The move is part of the central bank’s broader strategy to promote financial inclusivity and the adoption of digital payments, which it believes could significantly reduce remittance costs and boost the country’s economy.
Drawing on the tremendous potential of real-time payments for banks in the Philippines, Choo stated, “Real-time payments are now a real-world reality and banks have the opportunity to innovate where real-time payment sits in the customer journey and the end-to-end payments landscape to provide a differentiated experience. At ACI Worldwide, we want to collaborate with banks, merchants and billers in the Philippines and around the world to enable them to tap into emerging use cases of real-time payments through payment modernization and transformation.”

Isuzu Philippines Corporation (IPC) continued its nationwide promotion with the Isuzu D-MAX Mall Tour and 4×4 Action Playground at SM Cebu Seaside, offering customers in the Visayas region an exclusive opportunity to view and test drive the latest edition of the Isuzu D-MAX pickup.

“The VF 5 is our family’s first car, and I’m really happy about it,” said La Hoàng Long, a VinFast customer in Southern Vietnam. “Everywhere I go, people have been admiring the car, asking ‘Electric car? It’s beautiful!’ and then inquiring about where to buy it and how much it costs. A few people I know borrowed the car to test drive and said it felt solid and performed well for the price.”
Long and his wife are part of a growing trend in Vietnam, where first-time buyers are embracing the VF 5. This subcompact EV is also expected to make its entrance into the Philippines in the coming months, promising to be an attractive choice for local consumers.
1. It’s beginner-friendly and accessible
At first glance, the VF 5 is a compact SUV belonging to the A-segment, with precise measurements being 3,965mm long x 1,720mm wide x 1,580mm high. Compared to its gasoline-powered rivals within the same segment, it is slightly smaller but this does not compromise its functionality.
With fewer parts and a spacious interior, electric cars can be smaller while still maintaining practicality. The VF 5’s compact dimensions make it ideal for navigating city streets in both Hanoi and Manila, offering both maneuverability and a comfortable ride. Its two-row configuration comfortably accommodates five passengers, perfect for weekend getaways or family road trips.
With 260-liters of luggage space in its standard configuration, the VF 5 offers ample cargo room for everyday errands. Despite its compact size, the VF 5 does not compromise on performance. Its 70kW electric motor delivers ample power for city driving, while its 34-minute fast-charging capability ensures convenience on the go.
The model has proven to be a game-changer for new drivers like Hanoi-based Luu Anh Thu. “The VF 5 gives me a feeling of safety, especially as a woman,” says Thu, highlighting the car’s smooth handling and responsive brakes. It has transformed her from a hesitant beginner to a passionate road-trip enthusiast, planning a cross-country journey across Vietnam.
2. Affordability and after-sales support
For young people starting out in the labor market, price and cost are often the most critical factors. Although VinFast hasn’t announced pricing for the Philippines, expect affordability and flexible purchase options based on VinFast’s history.
In both its home market and Indonesia, VinFast offers consumers a choice: They can buy the car and battery outright or buy the vehicle separately and participate in a battery subscription program.
VinFast’s claim of lowering initial costs via this subscription program does have merit. In Indonesia, the VF 5 is listed at IDR310-million (roughly PHP1.1-million), but with the battery subscription program, the price drops to IDR242-million (about PHP870,000). Depending on monthly driving distances, customers can choose between different subscription tiers that suit their needs.
For those new to cars or electric vehicles (EVs), VinFast’s generous warranties offer peace of mind: 7-10 years or 160,000 to 200,000km (whichever comes first) for the vehicle itself, and 8-10 years with unlimited mileage for the battery. This could be the assurance needed to encourage the switch to electric.
In the Philippines, some car manufacturers face parts shortages, leading to lengthy repair times. VinFast addresses this by leveraging insights from its successful home market in Vietnam to ensure sufficient component availability.
“If the Philippines were our first market, determining which components to stock would be difficult. But thanks to our success in Vietnam, we know what to do. We understand which components are most used and will be ready to supply them in the Philippines,” explained Stuart Kinkade, VinFast deputy CEO of Vehicle Development Institute, in a June media meet-and-greet.
Another advantage of the VF 5 over its gasoline counterparts is the lower operating and maintenance cost. As an EV, it recharges at a significantly lower cost per energy unit than internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles. It is also known to require less frequent and less costly maintenance than ICE rivals.
With all of these factors combined, the VF 5 makes EV ownership more accessible than ever, particularly for young people or those seeking affordable options.
3. Safety: A Top Priority
While one of its big selling points is affordability, the VF 5 does not compromise on safety. Looking at its specs in Indonesia, upon coming to the Philippines, the VF 5 will likely be equipped with 4 airbags and safety features such as anti-lock brakes (ABS), electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD), emergency brake assist (BA), and electronic stability control (ESC).
The VF 5’s safety credentials go beyond spec sheets, having been proven in real-world incidents. In February, VF 5 owner Ngô Minh Đức had a harrowing experience on a highway in Southern Vietnam. His VF 5 was rear-ended by a tanker truck, causing it to spin out of control and sustain damage to the entire driver’s side. Shortly after, while stopped, it was struck again, this time by a 2.5-ton truck, deforming the rear.
Miraculously, the cabin remained intact, protecting everyone inside. The incident, shared online, stunned many who were surprised by the resilience of the compact electric car. The VF 5 had been traveling at over 90kph when hit the first time, yet it only skidded 200 meters before coming to a safe stop.
The repair costs further impressed Đức. The total estimate was only around USD5,100 (about PHP300,000) mainly for cosmetic fixes. As an experienced driver familiar with various car brands, he estimated that similar repairs on a gasoline car would have cost at least double that amount.
Initially, Đức’s family, especially his father, were hesitant about his choice of an electric car. However, his father, who was in the car during the accidents, is now a firm believer in the VF 5’s safety.
Đức’s experience is a testament to the VF 5’s safety and durability, proving it to be a reliable and secure choice for drivers.
