Pag-IBIG Fund’s total assets surged past the PHP1.1 trillion mark as of March 31, 2025, underscoring its continued financial strength and reaffirming its position among the country’s leading government financial institutions. From PHP1.069 trillion at the end of 2024, total assets grew by PHP34.37 billion in just the first quarter of the year, driven by the sustained expansion of its loan portfolio, prudent investments, and robust member savings.
Pag-IBIG Fund posted a solid equity base of PHP776.52 billion as of the first quarter, representing the combined value of members’ equity, retained earnings, and other reserves. This strong financial footing enables the agency to steadily grow the value of its members’ savings while continuing to provide accessible loan programs to its 16.55 million active members.
Complementing its equity position, the Fund maintained PHP21.29 billion in cash and cash equivalents and expanded its investment portfolio to PHP133.06 billion, demonstrating its strategic focus on liquidity and income-generating placements. Other major asset components include property and equipment, investment properties, and various non-current assets, all pointing to a well-diversified and resilient financial structure.
Earlier this month, Pag-IBIG Fund chief executive officer Marilene C. Acosta reiterated the agency’s 10-year vision: to declare at least 10% in annual dividends, expand digital access, and advance financial inclusion for underserved sectors. The long-term strategy also includes strengthening the Fund’s sustainability and enhancing its role in nation-building through inclusive home financing, fully aligned with President Ferdinand R. This competition is not only a clash of intelligence but also a platform for student-led innovation. IQ League: Vanguard is a one-of-a-kind inter-organizational cognitive competition where student organizations face off in a battle of wits, strategy, and mental strength. Each participating organization will form a team composed of four members who will represent their group throughout the competition. The catch? The challenges they will face aren’t just randomly selected, they are specially designed by fellow student organizations from other universities, so each round is unpredictable and exciting. The Social Security System (SSS) and Life Builder Fellowship formally sealed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) under the Contribution Subsidy Provider Program (CSPP)
SSS Vice President for Luzon Central 2 Division Gloria Corazon Andrada said that Life Builder Fellowship pledged to sponsor the monthly SSS contributions of an initial group of ten dedicated volunteers for a minimum of six months, with plans to extend the support to more volunteers in the future
“Many volunteers generously give their time and effort without any compensation,” Andrada said. “Through partnerships like this, we ensure that no one is left behind when it comes to social protection,” she added.
Once the CSPP beneficiaries meet the qualifying conditions, they will now gain access to SSS benefits such as sickness, maternity, disability, retirement, death and funeral, including loan privileges such as salary and calamity loan.

Visa, a world leader in digital payments is looking to expand support for Filipino small and medium enterprises (SMEs), which, despite their economic contribution, still face significant barriers to financial inclusion and growth. While making up more than 99% of all business enterprises in the country and generating 66% of total employment, SMEs in the Philippines continue to face significant challenges, including access to funding.
A global funding gap
Visa’s recent study reveals significant challenges faced by SMEs, particularly in accessing capital, with these businesses receiving less than 10% of total corporate loans. Cash flow concerns are prevalent, as 44% of SMEs highlight it as a top issue, and over half report having reserves that would last less than six months. Additionally, other hurdles include device and hardware cost for acceptance and lengthy application processes for card holders. Fraud prevention was also cited as a key concern by 33% of those accepting cards.
The financial landscape further complicates these challenges, with the International Finance Corporation reporting a USD5.2 trillion global funding gap for SMEs annually, predominantly in East Asia and the Pacific. The Philippines exemplifies this issue, with a USD221-billion funding demand against a USD15-billion supply. Despite mandates to increase SME lending, utilization remains low due to informal business practices, limited credit history, and financial literacy gaps.
Women-led SMEs across the region face additional social barriers, including gender bias in lending and limited property rights, which restrict their ability to use financial collateral. Moreover, the added burden of household responsibilities can hinder their capacity to effectively manage and expand their businesses. However, Visa’s research shows promising outcomes, revealing that 51% of women-led SMEs and 56% of micro-businesses in the Philippines experienced revenue growth through the adoption of digital payments.

Innovation in SME support and funding
Recognizing the crucial role SMEs play in economic development, Visa, through the Visa Foundation, previously launched a $100-million small business accelerator initiative aimed at advancing digital financial inclusion, stimulating job creation, and increasing access to capital for SMEs in Asia Pacific, including the Philippines.
This program has reached an estimated 29.6 million SMES in the region, including 10.9 million women-led SMEs. The program is complemented by Visa’s Practical Business Skills program, which equips SME owners with essential knowledge in cash flow management, digital payment integration, and financial planning.
Visa has been actively working with local partners to launch innovative products designed to expand financial inclusion for SMEs. Recently, it signed a new deal with CIMB Bank Philippines to launch a new Visa Business Debit Card. Designed to cater to SME owners, the card will be linked to a high interest business savings account, where business owners can enjoy zero fees, free fund transfers, insurance product offers, as well as a revolving credit facility that they can maximize to grow their business.

It offers distinctive tea houses, pawnshops, and dessert stalls, inviting Proxies to immerse themselves in the local atmosphere. Meanwhile, Proxies will take on management of their very own Suibian Temple, upgrade the temple’s facilities and earn in-game rewards by dispatching Bangboos, completing commissions, and collecting resources from the Hollows.
The Lemnian Hollow is an area rich in resources, yet fraught with danger. Due to the perilous Miasma widespread in the Hollow, formidable foes will enter the Miasmic Field state under certain conditions, gaining shields and enhanced abilities. To counter this, several powerful allies will join the roster. Yixuan, also known as the Grandmaster, will join the combat as an S-Rank Agent. With her unique Attribute Auric Ink and Specialty Rupture, Yixuan ignores enemies’ Defense and deals all damage based on her Sheer Force, which can be increased according to her Attack and Max HP. She also utilizes a special mechanic called Adrenaline instead of just regular Energy, and possesses 2 distinct Ultimate modes for varied combat scenarios, bringing Void Hunter-level prowess to the team. Joining Yixuan is Ju Fufu, the senior disciple of Yunkui Summit, who will debut as an S-Rank Fire Stun Agent. Ju Fufu and her mighty weapon Hu Wei can accumulate Might and Momentum points to deal both Physical and Fire damage. Her Chain Attack grants the entire team the Tiger’s Roar effect, boosting the squad’s CRIT DMG as well as the damage of Chain Attacks and Ultimates.
Also stepping into the spotlight is Pan Yinhu, Yunkui Summit’s A-Rank Physical Defense Agent, who proves that even a kitchen-savvy panda can be a force to reckon with. Completing the squad is Belion, an S-Rank Bangboo from Yunkui Summit. Meanwhile, the S-Rank Ether Support Astra Yao and the S-Rank Physical Defense Caesar will return to the Version 2.0 banners.
Apart from new narrative and characters, Hollow Zero: Lost Void will also be updated with new commissions and the possibility to equip multiple Gears to different Agents, adding more strategic options to battles. In Version 2.0, Proxies will be able to enter the cinema in Lumina Square to enjoy movies with different characters during the Gravitational Attraction event and obtain exclusive rewards by completing certain tasks, including an A-Rank W-Engine Reel Projector. In the Soul of Steel: Golden Bond event, Proxies can pilot sleek mechs into the Hollows, take on a variety of challenges, and earn abundant rewards.
To support more convenient exploration across the expanded New Eridu and Hollows, Version 2.0 will introduce a brand-new 3D map and enhanced navigation features. The newly implemented Fissure Beacons will allow Proxies to restore HP, revive Agents, and teleport, allowing Proxies to resume combat more efficiently. Furthermore, new players who complete Season 1 Chapter 2 Interlude can directly unlock and switch to Season 2’s main storyline.
Beyond new content and optimizations, Version 2.0 will deliver generous anniversary rewards in appreciation of the players’ continued support. Proxies will be able to choose one S-Rank Agent and one S-Rank W-Engine from the Stable Channel for free, along with receiving 1,600 Polychromes, as well as an anniversary-exclusive title and avatar upon the Version 2.0 release.
