Fifteen scholars from Batch 23 of the Isuzu Heart and Smile Project (IHSP) graduated from a rigorous two-year Automotive Servicing Course at the Isuzu-TESDA Auto Mechanic Training Center in Tacloban, Leyte, earning an NC IV certificate, the highest qualification.
The educational aid project is a collaboration between Isuzu Motors Limited Japan (IML), the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), and World Vision. It exemplifies Isuzu’s commitment to uplifting underprivileged youth by honing their automotive servicing skills to advance their careers in aftersales service.
Transformative Education with Proven Success
Established in 2008, the Isuzu Heart and Smile Project has since provided holistic automotive education to 436 underprivileged youth. The program consists of the standard TESDA curriculum for automotive servicing, with additional classes on Isuzu diesel technology and other pertinent topics, enhancing both general and specialized skills.
IHSP graduates can further their careers in the automotive industry, which Tetsuya Ikemoto from Isuzu Motors Limited remarked is making strides in the country. “The auto industry in the Philippines is growing every year, and more and more people are interested in working in it,” noted Ikemoto.
Posting an employment rate of 94.3% for all its graduates, the program proves to be a transformative educational experience. Among these graduates, 67% are employed locally, while 24% are employed overseas, and 3% are self-employed. Those working overseas are now making an impact in top global markets such as Australia, Japan, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, the United States, and other parts of Asia and the Middle East.
With this, Ikemoto encouraged the new graduates to carry on program’s the track record of success. “We hope that through this project, graduates will be able to satisfy customers by demonstrating the skills you acquired in your training and contribute to the development of the company and the Philippines,” said Ikemoto during his address.
Continuing the Tradition of Excellence
Following the graduation ceremony, IHSP welcomed 18 new scholars from Batch 27, who will train in automotive servicing until 2027. To inspire the incoming batch and offer a preview of the skills they will develop, current scholars from batches 24 to 26 conducted a special Skills Demonstration. Several students were also recognized during the ceremony for their exemplary performance in the IHSP.
Isuzu Philippines Corporation (IPC) president Mikio Tsukui expressed optimism about the scholars’ future success. “We are honored to be part of these students’ journey as they become professionals who can apply their skills for the benefit of the company, our valued customers, and society,” said Tsukui. “We look forward to their continued success—not only as key members of the Isuzu dealer network both locally and internationally, but also in their broader career pursuits.”
Seventeen years since the inception of the Isuzu Heart and Smile Project, the Isuzu Group and its partners continue to fulfill their commitment to communities and society as Your Responsible Partner.

For over 15 years, Mega Sardines has held its position as the Philippines’ #1 sardines brand. It has continued to dominate the market, commanding a 26% share in 2023.
Behind this success is Mega Prime Foods, Inc. (MPFI), the manufacturing and distribution company that has quietly built a powerhouse portfolio of Filipino pantry staples. From Mega Mackerel and Mega Tuna to Mega Prime Quality fruits and vegetables, Primo Sparkling Juice, and Jimm’s Coffee Mix, MPFI has steadily expanded its presence across categories, providing nutritious food to millions of Filipinos daily.
This year, Mega Prime Foods celebrates 50 years of freshness and nourishment, honoring a legacy built on uplifting everyday family life—from the Filipino dining table to homes around the world. A highlight of the festivities isthe launch of an anniversary video with a song sung by celebrity ambassador, megastar Sharon Cuneta. She is also the face of Mega Milyonaryo, the company’s massive nationwide promo designed to give back to its loyal customers. With a PHP50 million prize pool, the promo serves as Mega Prime Foods’ heartfelt tribute to the millions of Filipinos who have supported its brands over the years.
“We became the number one sardines brand in the Philippines. Not because we had the biggest resources but because we had the biggest heart. We want to give back to the people who made our success possible,” underscored Michelle Tiu Lim-Chan, MPFI president and CEO.
Addressing the dynamics of working with family in a corporate setting, chief growth and development officer Marvin Tiu Lim emphasized the importance of open communication and mutual respect. He noted, “Arguments [may] happen because we’re all passionate. We want the same things, but sometimes in different ways. Our strong relationship at home and at work helps us manage disagreements and find balance between professionalism and being a family business. We’re agile and can make fast decisions because we trust each other and communicate directly.”
Doubling Down on Local and Global Expansion
As Mega Prime Foods celebrates 50 years of nourishing Filipino families, it is deepening its commitment to nation-building by taking Filipino excellence to the global stage. Speaking to members of the media, the company made clear its ambition to double the business every five years.
“It is an audacious goal—but one we believe is entirely within reach, because we are building with insight, scaling with discipline, and growing with purpose,” stated Marvin. “First, we’re doubling down on our roots: our distribution. With over 135,000 touchpoints nationwide—mga tindahan, palengke, groceries, sari-sari stores—we are present in the daily lives of Filipino families. We will make sure MEGA is even more accessible—abot-kaya, maaasahan, at tunay na pang-Pinoy.”
Aside from its local efforts, MPFI recently bolstered its presence in the UAE market, partnering with Baqer Mohebi Enterprises (BME) to make its products widely available in Baqer Mohebi Supermarkets across key locations in Dubai. BME is a leading FMCG distributor in the region. Mega Prime Foods products are also distributed in Canada where it is available at Costco Wholesale. Europe and the United States are also key markets for MPFI. He noted that their success has been due to the Filipinos working overseas.

“We’re taking MEGA to the world, aiming for 10% of our business to come from exports. We will bring Filipino excellence to every table abroad—not just as a brand, but as a source of national pride.”
Tiu Lim furthered that the expansion is coupled with a strategic deepening into the wellness space. This shift is underscored by the recent acquisition of Jimm’s Coffee Mix and the “Superfood” endorsement of Mega Sardines by the Medical Wellness Association (MWA). Known for providing added ingredients, ginseng, agaricus mushroom and korean ginseng, that have health benefits, Jimm’s Coffee Mix is a leader in the functional coffee brand category. Meanwhile, MWA is a U.S.-based organization comprising the world’s largest network of physicians and wellness experts. Mega Sardines is the first sardine brand in the Philippines, and globally, to receive a MWA “Superfood” endorsement.
Beyond Business: A Heart for Service
Mega Prime Foods Inc. also marked its 50th year by highlighting its sustainability and community service efforts during its gala night celebration.
“Our commitment to sustainability is embedded in our operations. From adopting renewable energy and reducing operational waste, to launching the Mega Ocean Cleanup, we continue to act as responsible stewards of the environment, honoring our role in protecting God’s creation,” added Malcolm Tiu Lim, MPFI chief technical and innovations officer.
“We have been blessed, and because of that, we are called to be a blessing. That’s the heart behind the Mega Tiu Lim Foundation: a belief that every Filipino deserves access to nutrition and livelihood, so they can build better lives,” highlighted Mark Tiu Lim, MPFI chief spiritual and people officer.
Since 2019, Mega Bigay Sustansya, in partnership with Reach Out Feed PH, DOST-FNRI, DSWD, and DepEd, has served nearly 500,000 nutritious meals to over 1,000 children, resulting in measurable improvements in child health and nutrition.
Through the Mega Malasakit Mission, MPFI brings its advocacy to grassroots communities—visiting barangays across the country to deliver nutrition, education, and joy. These on-ground efforts showcase the versatility and nourishment of our products while building lasting connections with families.
As the Philippines continues to emerge as a key player in global IT and digital services, the urgency of secure data disposal has never been greater. From international banks and healthcare providers to local fintech startups and government institutions, organizations across the country handle massive volumes of sensitive data daily. Yet one critical area often remains overlooked: the secure erasure of data from decommissioned devices.
Blancco, the world’s leading provider of certified data erasure solutions, and its official Philippine distributor Information Technology Security Distribution Inc. (ITSDI) are calling on enterprises to make end-of-life data security a top priority. Without proper data sanitization protocols, companies risk serious cybersecurity breaches, regulatory penalties, and reputational damage.
Addressing a Growing Cybersecurity Threat
The Philippines remains one of the most frequently targeted countries in Asia for data breaches. In 2023, cyber incidents involving a major fast-food chain and a government benefits provider exposed the private information of millions of Filipinos. The National Privacy Commission (NPC) cited negligence and outdated data disposal practices as major contributors to these breaches.
Since 2004, more than 124 million Filipino user accounts have been compromised, placing the country fifth in Asia for data exposure. As a result, regulatory pressure has intensified. Under the Data Privacy Act, companies face fines of up to 3% of their gross annual income and imprisonment for violations related to improper data handling and disposal.
“Treating data disposal as an afterthought is no longer acceptable,” said Vincent Sim, regional director for Southeast Asia at Blancco. “The final stage of the data lifecycle is just as critical as the first.”
Why Data Erasure Matters
The Philippine IT sector manages a vast array of financial, medical, and customer data, with devices regularly cycled out due to modernization and expansion. Without certified erasure solutions, decommissioned hardware becomes a hidden vulnerability—subject to theft, unauthorized resale, or careless disposal.
Studies reveal that up to 67% of secondhand drives still contain recoverable data. In an environment with limited oversight and high equipment turnover, this becomes a serious risk. Many organizations, citing budget constraints or lack of awareness, rely on unreliable deletion tools that leave data intact and offer no audit trail.
Blancco’s industry-certified tools ensure total data erasure and provide tamper-proof reports to support internal audits and regulatory compliance.
Total Data Sanitization: ITSDI Security experts make sure that clients’ decommissioned devices follow Blancco’s data security protocols and get Blancco’s Erasure certification prior to disposal or donation to third parties.
Partnering for a Safer Digital Future
ITSDI, the trusted local distributor of Blancco in the Philippines, offers comprehensive solutions that help organizations integrate secure data disposal into their broader cybersecurity and risk management frameworks. Earlier this year, Blancco named ITSDI its 2024 Southeast Asia Distributor of the Year, recognizing ITSDI’s excellence in implementation, client support, and technical expertise.
“We are proud to recognize ITSDI as Blancco’s 2024 Distributor of the Year,” said Sim. “This honor reflects their deep commitment to securing client data and promoting certified data erasure across industries in the Philippines.”
From multinationals to SMEs and government offices, ITSDI supports its clients with certified tools, implementation services, training, and ongoing support to ensure no data is left behind.
Trust the Global Leader in Data Sanitization
More than just erasing files, Blancco’s solutions permanently remove all data and generate verifiable certificates accepted in audits and by regulators. ITSDI ensures clients’ decommissioned devices follow Blancco’s protocols, protecting them from leaks, legal risks, and compliance failures.
“Hackers and breaches are constant threats. The best defense is to eliminate the risk at its source,” said Sim. “With ITSDI as our Philippine partner, local businesses can confidently secure their sensitive data—making it inaccessible even after a device is retired.”
Secure Your Data Before Disposal
For companies managing sensitive or regulated data, peace of mind begins with proactive action. Secure data erasure is no longer a technical option—it’s a business necessity.

HP and the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) are aligning efforts to build an AI-ready Philippines, focusing on technological innovation to support long-term national development.
The collaboration was a key focus at the recent Frontier Tech Trends Webinar, “Artificial Intelligence in the Workspace,” organized by DICT in celebration of National ICT Month.
“That’s where our theme for this year’s National ICT Month comes in: Digital Bayanihan,” shared Emmy Lou Versoza-Delfin, Director of DICT’s ICT Industry Development Bureau (IIDB). “This is as much about inclusion as it is about innovation. It’s about making sure we all grow and adapt together—wala tayong iwanan. The spirit of bayanihan lives on in the digital age. It means helping each other understand, adapt, and thrive. It means creating tools, policies, and platforms that make life easier, not just for a few, but for all Filipino people.”
As a global technology leader, HP reaffirmed its commitment to digital equity. “HP is dedicated to ensuring the AI revolution benefits all Filipinos,” said Ida Evina Ong-Co, managing director of HP Philippines. “We’re delivering technology that is not just powerful, but also secure, accessible, and ready to help every worker and student thrive in a new era of work, and build a more prosperous and equitable nation.”
A Shared Vision for a Digitally Empowered Philippines
The webinar offered a practical introduction to artificial intelligence, with Idris Atakli, HP consultant and AI product strategist, explaining how the technology helps teams work smarter by boosting productivity and simplifying tasks. This is supported by solutions like HP’s AI Companion, a secure in-device tool designed to enhance productivity while protecting user data.
DICT complemented this outlook by highlighting how automation and digital tools are transforming industries and fueling economic growth. The department emphasized AI’s potential to improve public services, drive business efficiency, and create new employment opportunities.
Contrary to fears that AI might replace human workers, the reality on the ground tells a different story; one grounded in improving the process, and not in displacement. This shift is a simple but powerful truth: AI is not here to take over jobs, rather, it is here to enhance them. As businesses integrate AI into daily operations, it becomes clearer that the technology is most valuable when it works alongside people, not in place of them. For when it is used responsibly, AI brings out the best in human potential as it amplifies their ability to think, solve, collaborate, and lead.
The Analytics and Artificial Intelligence Association of the Philippines (AAP) also shared how AI is used to help businesses innovate and drive economic growth. They emphasized that AI adoption can lead to increased productivity gains with fewer resources, foster innovation, create new revenue streams, forecast market trends, and shift to higher-value work.
Michelle Alarcon, President of The Analytics and Artificial Intelligence Association of the Philippines (AAP), discussed how practical AI solutions are driving innovation and powering economic growth
“Everyone should be looking at how to leverage AI. Right now, we’re all on relatively equal footing, so it’s the perfect time to start preparing—organize your data, refine your processes—so that when you begin using AI, your systems are ready to integrate and fully benefit from it,” said Michelle Alarcon, President of The Analytics and Artificial Intelligence Association of the Philippines (AAP).
HP’s participation in Frontier Tech Trends, alongside DICT and AAP, reflects a shared vision for a digitally empowered nation. By championing inclusive innovation and digital upskilling, these efforts collectively support the development of a workforce that is not only prepared for the demands of the future but also empowered to thrive and lead in it.

In a grand showcase of heritage, innovation, and unity, Suzuki Philippines Incorporated (SPH) commemorated its 50th Anniversary with a series of milestone events that brought together its network of dealers, loyal customers, employees, and partners. From the exclusive One Suzuki Dealer Convention to the vibrant Suzuki Matsuri 2025 and the massive One Suzuki Big Ride, the celebration embodied five decades of commitment to Filipino mobility and marked a new era with the global brand promise: “By Your Side.”
A Historic Beginning, A Nation-Wide Celebration
From humble beginnings in 1975 as a motorcycle manufacturer through a joint venture with the then Rufino Antonio and Associates, Suzuki Philippines has grown to become the only integrated automotive brand in the country, offering motorcycles, automobiles, and marine engines under one unified identity. Today, SPH has expanded its presence with over 5,000 motorcycle outlets (including 105 exclusive 3S shops), 80 automobile dealerships, and 22 marine branches, serving Filipinos from Luzon to Mindanao.
As Suzuki commemorates its 50th year in the Philippines, it also honors the people who made this journey possible—dealers, employees, leaders, and loyal customers who shaped its story and fueled its growth.
Norminio Mojica, managing director and top Filipino executive of Suzuki Philippines, captured this spirit in his special message: “Together, these individuals form the wheel of Suzuki Philippines’ 50-year journey, a journey powered by shared visions, shared efforts, and a shared belief that we can achieve greatness. It is this unity that brings us to this day, and it is this unity that will carry us forward.”
One Suzuki Dealer Convention: Honoring the Lifeblood of the Brand
Held on June 13, 2025, at the Conrad Hotel Manila, the One Suzuki Dealer Convention was a landmark event dedicated especially to honor Suzuki’s dealer network, bringing together, for the first time, partners from all three business divisions: Motorcycle, Automobile, and Marine. Designed as a full-day celebration of dealer contributions, the convention featured business sessions, recognition ceremonies, and heartfelt tributes to the people who have been instrumental in Suzuki’s five-decade journey in the Philippines.
The event was attended by top executives from Suzuki Motor Corporation (SMC), led by Toshihiro Suzuki, representative director and president of SMC Japan, and also paid tribute to the legacy of former SPH presidents Hitoshi Ota, Satoshi Uchida, Hiroshi Suzuki, and long-serving Filipino executives whose leadership helped shape Suzuki’s success in the country.
In his keynote speech, Toshihiro Suzuki expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Filipino people and to everyone who has contributed to Suzuki’s growth.
“I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the people of the Philippines, the government officials, dealers, suppliers and customers who have supported Suzuki Philippines Incorporated over the past 50 years. Demand for mobility in the Philippines is expected to continue growing, making it an important market for Suzuki. Suzuki aims for ‘an infrastructure mobility closely connected with people’s lives’, and is committed to providing attractive products in the Philippines.”
The event also marked a key moment for the brand with the official introduction of Suzuki’s new global tagline, “By Your Side,” reinforcing its long-term commitment to customer-focused mobility, powered by the strength of its dealer community.
Suzuki Matsuri 2025: A Cultural and Brand Showcase for the Filipino Public
On June 14 and 15, the celebration extended to the public with Suzuki Matsuri 2025, held at the SM Mall of Asia Activity Center. Inspired by the Japanese tradition of “Matsuri” or festival, the event welcomed thousands of visitors into an immersive Suzuki Village, showcasing the company’s legacy, products, and innovations in a vibrant, family-friendly atmosphere.
Opening the event, SPH president Koichiro Hirao welcomed guests with pride and deep appreciation, saying: “Fifty years ago, Suzuki began with a dream to serve the Filipino people. Today, Suzuki stands proudly by the side of every Filipino—on motorcycles, in cars, and even at sea. This festival celebrates not just our Japanese heritage, but our Filipino heart. Our success isn’t just ours—it belongs to our customers, employees, dealer partners, and the communities we serve. We are honored to be part of your lives.”
The Suzuki Matsuri exhibit was organized into three lifestyle-themed zones that showcased the brand’s diverse mobility solutions:
The Adventure Zone featured thrill-ready models like the V-STROM 1050DE, V-STROM 800DE, V-STROM 250SX, Raider J Crossover, with Jimny 5 Door, a Polyboat with Marine’s DF2.5 engine and two Stealth 250s.
The Sport Zonefeatured the Hayabusa, GSX-S1000GT, GSX-8R, Gixxer SF155, Raider R150 FI, the Jimny 3 Door, XL7 Hybrid and two DF350 HPs Marine engines.
The Urban Zoneshowcasedthe Avenis, Skydrive Sport, Burgman 400ABS, and Burgman Street EX with the Dzire Hybrid.
At the heart of the Matsuri Village was the public preview of the Suzuki Fronx, the newest addition to Suzuki’s automotive lineup. Making its Philippine debut, the Fronx, a subcompact crossover, wowed the crowd with its modern design and youthful energy, signaling the company’s continued push toward lifestyle-oriented innovations.
One Suzuki Big Ride: Uniting the Rider Community
A highlight of the second day was the One Suzuki Big Ride, which saw over 1,300 Suzuki riders from diverse backgrounds take to the streets in a grand motorcade. The ride kicked off at 10th Avenue in Caloocan and stretched through the length of EDSA, culminating at the SM Mall of Asia. This massive gathering was more than a show of Suzuki’s strong rider community—it was also a clear statement of the brand’s commitment to safe and responsible riding. Clad in proper safety gear and riding in formation, participants demonstrated the discipline and camaraderie that Suzuki promotes on the road.
The event reinforced Suzuki’s role not only as a leader in motorcycle innovation but also as an advocate for rider education and safety awareness, highlighting that true riding enjoyment comes with responsibility – a reliable mobility partner on and beyond the road.
By Your Side, Then and Now
Across all three days, Suzuki’s 50th Anniversary celebration stood as a testament to the brand’s steadfast mission: to be a trusted life companion for Filipinos, whether they’re commuting to work, navigating city streets, exploring the outdoors, or setting sail. From honoring dealers who helped build the foundation to unveiling the future with new models like the Suzuki Fronx, Suzuki Philippines reaffirmed its position not just as a vehicle provider, but as a brand “By Your Side” at every turn, on every road, and through every wave of life. As Suzuki embarks on the next 50 years, its commitment remains stronger than ever—to continue empowering mobility, enhancing lifestyles, and driving progress, side by side with every Filipino.
realme has officially unveiled the latest addition to its entry-level C Series lineup: the realme C71. Packed with a massive 6300mAh battery, the realme C71 delivers reliable all-day power at an affordable price.
This feature-packed smartphone can be purchased at an introductory price of PHP3,999 via the realme TikTok Shop from June 19-24.
Early buyers can also enjoy a PHP500 discount when purchasing from offline partner stores nationwide, bringing the price down from PHP5,499 to PHP4,999 (4GB+64GB) and PHP6,499 to PHP5,999 (6GB+128GB), respectively.
Here are a few more impressive features of the realme C71 that make it a true stunner in its class and a value-for-money digital companion.
The energy that won’t quit halfway or even all-day
Frequent charging is a thing of the past with the realme C71. Equipped with a massive 6300mAh battery, this budget-friendly smartphone is built to keep up with the Squad’s fast-paced digital lifestyle. Whether it’s making long calls with friends to share the latest ‘tea’ or dedicating an entire day to finding relevant Review of Related Literature (RRL) and compiling reference materials, all in the name of a passing thesis grade, the realme C71’s battery surely won’t disappoint. Just an hour of charging powers the device for up to two days, allowing the squad to do more with their smartphone and maximize productivity.
And when all is said and done, it only takes about 37 minutes of waiting to juice the phone up to 50% — all thanks to the device’s 45W SUPERVOOC fast charging. Even better, the realme C71 also supports reverse charging so that users can top up other devices running low on power.
Superb Camera that Stands Out
The realme C71 may fall under the budget smartphone category, but its camera department tells a different story. With a 50MP AI rear camera, users can expect crisp and clear photos every time. Whether it’s a travel photo or a shot of a mundane moment, the results look like they came straight from a mood board.
Furthermore, taking mobile photography to the next level, the realme C71 features AI tools like AI Eraser, which removes photo bombers and unwanted objects in the background. Its AI Clear Face also enhances facial features and sharpens throwback photos that users once hesitated to share.
Raising the Bar Higher for Durability and Style
Another reason why the realme C71 offers great bang for one’s pocket is because it features Military-Grade Shock Resistance, Daily Water Resistance, and an exclusive SonicWave Water Ejection system that clears moisture from the speaker using sound vibrations. These features effectively address common concerns among the Filipino Squad, such as accidental drops and exposure to rain or spills, making the C71 one of the most durable phones in its class.
As for style? It’s a total stunner, too. It comes in two feather-inspired colorways that complement any outfit: Forest Owl and White Swan. Despite housing a large-capacity battery, the realme C71 remains impressively slim. Measuring just 7.79mm thin and weighing 196g, it offers a lightweight, comfortable, and conveniently pocket-friendly feel. On top of that, the realme C71 also sports a Customizable Pulse Light on the back, a circular LED with six color options, and two lighting effects that alert users to calls, notifications, charging status, and more.
Retailing at P5,499 for the 4GB+64GB storage option and P6,499 for the 6GB+128GB variant, the realme C71 aims to bring value for money to fans looking for a dependable smartphone that doesn’t compromise quality or performance.
With its stylish and durable look and feel, the device can surely be an easy ‘yes’ for fans looking for a smartphone that not only gives up when things get ‘tough and heavy,’ but also stays resilient enough to endure a few bumps.

The SGV Knowledge Institute, together with EY-Parthenon and SGV Consulting, held a forum titled “AI Pulse: Shaping Consumer Futures,” at Shangri-La at the Fort, Manila. The event explored the transformative impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on the consumer goods and retail sectors.
As businesses navigate the complexities of a rapidly evolving digital landscape, the forum addressed how AI has revolutionized consumer engagement, supply chain management, and product innovation. The event brought together local and international subject matter resources who shared insights and strategies for leveraging AI to drive growth and efficiency in the industry.
The program commenced with opening remarks from SGV chairman and country managing partner Wilson P. Tan, who highlighted the significance of AI in modern business strategies. The first session featured presentations from Olivier Gergele, EY-Parthenon Asia-Pacific consumer leader, and Shaurya Ahuja, EY-Parthenon partner in leading Digital Value Creation in the Consumer Products and Retail (CPR) sector, who discussed the pivotal role of AI in transforming consumer products and retail.
Christian Domingo, digital business development head at NutriAsia, Inc., spoke about his company’s AI journey, encouraging audience engagement through a Q&A session.

Other speakers included:
Maria Kathrina Macaisa-Peña, SGV partner
Marie Stephanie Tan-Hamed, SGV partner
JJ Tan, EY-Parthenon associate partner
Kunal Sethi, EY-Parthenon senior manager
Marcus Wong, EY-Parthenon senior manager
The speakers delved into four critical themes: whitespace identification and innovation, direct consumer engagement and hyper-personalization, transparent and agile supply chains, and agentic AI for process automation.
Maria Kathrina S. Macaisa-Peña, SGV consumer products and retail leader, said “Agentic AI can enable complex third-party risk assessments for suppliers without constant human intervention by leveraging real-time intelligence from submitted requirements and online information. It can also bring transformative value to the finance function through data understanding and reporting, knowledge management, and content creation (GenAI and Machine Learning).”
Olivier Gergele said “While AI is not new, the AI landscape has been evolving rapidly with GenAI, and more recently, Agentic AI has been revolutionizing different sectors. Leading players have moved away from a use case-driven approach and are now focusing on a set of transformative opportunities to drive incremental shareholder value.”
Shaurya Ahuja said “Organizations face four key pitfalls in leveraging Gen AI and Agentic AI: lack of direction, excessive focus on governance, an unstructured approach to integration, and difficulty in acquiring necessary skills. While Gen AI offers valuable use cases, companies often struggle with understanding its impact on P&L. To overcome these challenges, a strategic, top-down approach aligned with transformation goals is essential for effectively classifying opportunities by their impact on business models.”
Shaurya Ahuja, EY-Parthenon partner in leading Digital Value Creation in the CPR sector
Christian G. Domingo, digital business development head of NutriAsia, Inc., said “Data cleanliness should be paramount before any form of formal AI exploration, as old, incomplete, or poorly formatted data will directly affect output and may trigger AI hallucinations. Therefore, it is essential to invest in data management and organization software; more importantly, we must instill a sense of good data governance practices across the organization and at all levels for the true power of AI to be harnessed.”
In addition to keynote presentations, the event included breakout sessions designed for in-depth discussions on practical AI solutions related to these themes. Participants had the opportunity to engage actively with SGV and EY Partners and subject matter resources to explore the implementation of AI technologies in their organizations.
The forum concluded with closing remarks from Maria Vivian C. Ruiz, SGV vice chair and deputy managing partner, outlining the key takeaways from the discussions.
The SGV Knowledge Institute serves as a hub for intellectual exchange and advancement, leveraging SGV’s collective thought leadership and the deep experience of its multidisciplinary professionals. By fostering continuous learning, knowledge-sharing, and innovation, SGV aims to empower businesses to navigate the challenges and opportunities presented in today’s business landscape. SGV is a member firm of EY Global and EY-Parthenon is a brand under which a number of EY member firms across the globe provide strategy consulting services.
In today’s connected economy, scaling a business beyond borders is more accessible than ever. With the right tools and partners, Filipino entrepreneurs are seizing the opportunity to serve international clients and compete globally.
But one thing remains essential: getting paid reliably, efficiently, and across currencies. Seamless payment infrastructure is critical to global growth, enabling entrepreneurs to manage cash flow, strengthen client relationships, and focus on scaling their businesses.
That ambition was on display at the Payoneer’s Ambition Hackathon in New York City, where 20 high-impact businesses from around the world were spotlighted for their innovation and potential. Among them were three ventures from the Philippines: Carlo Angelo Orbe, Sherwin Alegre, and Maricar Hernandez, who joined over 200 global executives and capped the event with a NASDAQ closing bell ceremony.
The Philippines is an important market for Payoneer, where it is empowering the country’s vibrant ecosystem of service export founders, e-commerce sellers, content creators, gig workers, and more through business-grade features and a secure platform. “Payoneer’s 20th year anniversary celebration event was about more than networking—it was about creating real connections that drive business growth,” said Monique Avila, Payoneer’s head of customer success for Asia Pacific. “We brought together business leaders to share insights, explore new markets, and discover practical solutions that can accelerate their global expansion.”
Their participation comes at a pivotal moment: Philippine service exports grew 7.2% in Q1 2025, according to the Philippine Statistics Authority, driven by telecommunications, IT-enabled services, and BPOs. It is clear that a new generation of Filipino founders is not just ready for global growth, they are leading it.
Elevating Filipino Virtual Assistants on a Global Stage
When Carlo Angelo Orbe launched TaskMeQuick, he envisioned more than just a virtual assistant agency. He set out to prove that Filipino talent could power global businesses with both heart and skill.
Today, TaskMeQuick operates as a borderless, people-first company, with remote contractors across the Philippines, India, Nicaragua, and the Middle East. Clients range from fast-growing startups to healthcare providers. Over the past few years, the company has seen its monthly volume rise from USD20,000 to more than USD130,000, with revenue now between USD1,500 and USD1,900 per month. The company’s expansion continues as TaskMeQuick has also earned recognition, ranking among the Top 9 Best Customer Service Agencies on Upwork worldwide.
Throughout challenges like scaling teams, maintaining service quality, and managing cross-border payments, Orbe’s mission remains unwavering: “We remain committed to elevating the Philippine freelancing industry and making Filipino-built solutions globally competitive.”
Building Tech That Works the Way Business Really Works
Sherwin Alegre’s philosophy is simple. Technology should adapt to business, not the other way around. As founder of Microsource Inc., Alegre leads a company generating over USD650,000 in annual revenue by delivering cost-effective, custom-built software solutions across finance, logistics, and AI. With expansion plans into Singapore, Vietnam, and Hong Kong, Microsource is becoming a key digital infrastructure partner in Southeast Asia.
At the Hackathon, Alegre saw firsthand how global founders use innovation not just for growth but for real impact. “The most impactful leaders today are those who don’t just chase growth. They build with purpose, and open doors for others across borders,” he says.
In the Philippines, Microsource helps businesses replace manual workflows with custom systems that reflect how they truly operate. Their solutions improve processes like client management, cash flow, and time tracking. With most customers coming through word-of-mouth, Microsource is not only enabling digital transformation but also helping Filipino businesses compete on a global stage.
Scaling a Global Business That Prioritizes People Over Profits
For Maricar Hernandez, growth and community impact go hand in hand. As co-founder of Beyond Limits Outsourcing Solution, she helped scale the business across the US, Canada, and Japan. What began with back-office support has expanded into finance, education, and healthcare, with plans for further expansion into Vietnam, Mexico, and Latin America by 2025. Yet, from the start, Beyond Limits prioritized impact alongside profit.
The company’s philanthropic efforts are integral to its mission, including donations to orphanages, a one-to-one scholarship sponsorship program, and a focus on long-term roles for Filipino professionals. “When I founded the company five years ago, I shared a message that still guides us today: ‘Never start a business to make money. Start a business to make a difference,’” Hernandez says.
As the company grows and targets 1,000 employees by 2025, Beyond Limits retains long-term clients and is deeply committed to building relationships. Reflecting on her time in New York, Hernandez says, “Remember, run a business with the intention of making a positive impact. That’s where real success starts.”
Powering Global Ambitions
Behind the success of these three businesses is a shared enabler: a digital payment solution that helps them navigate cross-border growth.
Payoneer has empowered these entrepreneurs to scale with confidence, from faster payments and competitive currency conversion for transactions to easier onboarding of international clients and more streamlined financial management. These capabilities free up time and resources, allowing them to focus on what matters most: growing their businesses, expanding into new markets, and staying true to their long-term vision and purpose.
In their hands, digital payments are more than just a tool. They are a bridge to opportunity. These Filipino entrepreneurs are not only exporting services, they are sharing solutions, innovation, and impact with the world.
Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI), Honda Philippines, Inc. (HPI), and the Honda Safety Driving Center (HSDC) remain committed to promoting road safety awareness. On June 16, 2025, Honda invited government representatives, media friends, and customers to the Honda Safety Driving Center for its “One Honda Road Safety” event, reiterating road safety practices and its advanced driver-assist system technology.
The day was split into an insightful morning program and practical safety demonstrations in the afternoon. The morning road safety awareness seminar addressed topics including safe driving and riding behavior, hazard prediction, preventive maintenance tips, common vehicle emergencies, and vehicle safety technology.
To put these lessons into practice, demonstrations took place in the afternoon through test drives and rides. Test drives for models equipped with Honda SENSING, Honda’s advanced driver assist system, were available at the venue. HCPI also offered test rides to experience the Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) which helps warn, mitigate collision, or lessen the severity of frontal collision. Participants rode in a Honda HR-V as authorized personnel drove it towards a car dummy posing as a real-life obstacle to see how the car alerts the driver and applies brakes to avoid a collision.
Other Honda SENSING features include:
Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Low Speed Follow (LSF), available on Honda Civic, HR-V, CR-V, and Civic Type R models equipped with Honda SENSING
Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS)
Road Departure Mitigation (RDM) with Lane Departure Warning (LDW)
Auto High Beam (AHB)
Lead Car Departure Notification (LCDN)
Similarly, the latest Honda motorcycle lineup features designs that are designed to keep riders safe. Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) and Combined Braking System (CBS) technology help provide smooth, controlled braking and improve overall braking efficiency. RoadSync, now offered in the All-New PCX160 model, offers convenience and easy access to calling, messaging, navigation, and music while riding.
Other safety features on Honda motorcycles are:
Emergency Stop Signal (ESS) – a safety feature that flashes hazard lights when the bike brakes suddenly, warning drivers behind.
Automatic Headlights On (AHO) – automatically turns on the headlights when the engine starts, helping keep the rider visible at all times.
Amid the numerous vehicular accidents in the Philippines lately, Honda conducted this event to reaffirm its commitment to its 2050 safety goal of a collision-free society, having no road accidents involving any Honda vehicle, and its 50% halfway goal by 2030. Achieving this goal would mean a great deal to Honda as it promotes the safety of everyone sharing the road, not just drivers. Honda would like to remind everyone to always stay safe and actively educate themselves on road safety awareness and education, working together towards this goal.
Lalamove, the leading on-demand platform, released findings from its global survey, revealing that over 75% of partner drivers chose to transition into online-based logistics from traditional counterparts, highlighting that the platform remains significant in creating new career opportunities.
Findings reveal how Lalamove’s flexible model enables driver partners to achieve greater work-life balance, pursue personal goals, and provide for their loved ones in new and meaningful ways.
Platform economy reshapes careers
The platform economy has emerged as a dominant trend across markets, reshaping traditional employment models and offering individuals unprecedented flexibility and diverse income streams. Notably, these individuals transitioned from diverse professional backgrounds, including office roles (16%) and self-employed individuals (10%).
In the Philippines, the survey showed that 21% of partner drivers originally worked in the traditional transportation and logistics industry, while 20% worked as office staff and were self-employed, before switching to Lalamove.
This shows that Lalamove remains the top-of-mind platform for majority Filipinos drivers who want to explore other flexible earning opportunities to support their livelihood.
As flexible, app-based earning opportunities become a defining trend across global markets, the study serves as a tool for understanding the backgrounds and preferences of Lalamove’s driver partners.
Driving Toward Opportunity. In a recent global survey, Lalamove revealed that 75% of its driver partners have shifted from traditional logistics to platform-based work, citing benefits like flexible schedules, added income, and improved family well-being. As the platform economy grows, Lalamove continues to empower drivers across the Philippines to take control of their livelihood on their own terms
Redefining work accessibility for flexible earning
Lalamove’s partnership with drivers addresses a growing global shift toward adaptable work, combining accessible opportunities with unparalleled scheduling freedom. The global survey underscores this appeal: 65% of driver partners cite flexibility as their primary motivator, while 47% leverage the platform’s open scheduling to balance earning income with personal and family commitments.
By removing rigid hourly requirements and empowering drivers to have flexibility for their time around personal demands, Lalamove fills delivery gaps while reimagining the modern workforce.
Lalamove fuels financial support for families
The survey also found that 63% of partner drivers use Lalamove to boost their income, a reflection of how this additional source of income helps achieve financial stability while also enhancing their standards of living.
This opportunity extends beyond individual benefits; with 63% of drivers being married and two-thirds of them with children. The flexibility of Lalamove’s platform allows partner drivers to explore more income opportunities like having a part-time job or running a small business while taking care of their family. These motivations highlight how Lalamove helps partner drivers to enhance their livelihood.
For Macky Bravo, a motorcycle Lalamove driver, he signed up as a Lalamove partner driver to help support the school expenses of her stepdaughter’s college education.
“Maliban sa extra income na nakukuha ko sa pagiging delivery rider ng Lalamove, nasusuportahan ko rin ‘yung pang-tuition ng anak ko at lagi ko pa siyang nakakabonding kasi flexible lang naman oras ko,” he shared.
The survey received nearly 9,000 responses from different markets globally, highlighting the company’s commitment to actively engage with its partner driver community and their experiences within the platform.
Heroes Behind the Wheel
To further celebrate the efforts of the partner drivers, Lalamove launches “Heroes Behind the Wheel” campaign. This initiative showcases inspiring success stories from partner drivers in the Philippines and across all markets, highlighting how Lalamove positively impacts their communities.
Through authentic sharing of experiences, it will feature the invaluable contributions of the partner drivers and express their deep appreciation for their hard work and dedication.
“Our partner drivers are the core of every Lalamove delivery. They help power the growth of MSMEs, but more than that, their dedication greatly impacts many communities, enabling them to thrive and power their ambitions. Because of their hard work, Lalamove remains committed to enhancing the lives of our partner drivers, providing them with the platform and support they need to succeed,” Djon Nacario, managing director of Lalamove, shared.
