    Mazda Rotary Heritage

    The history of Mazda and the rotary engine is closely intertwined for over 55 years. Lured by the rotary engine’s smoothness and compactness, Mazda used its advanced in-house machining and material knowledge to create the world’s first mass-produced rotary engine in the Cosmo Sport in 1957. In 1973, it was followed with the launch of the legendary first-generation RX-7. Mazda constantly developed the rotary engine, culminating in the #55 Mazda 787B’s 1991 24 Hours of Le Mans victory—the first Japanese manufacturer and only one ever powered by a piston-less engine.

    And just as the world thought the rotary engine had no place amidst tightening emissions standards 12 years ago, Mazda brought its iconic engine back as an innovative powertrain in the e-Skyactiv-R in the Mazda MX-30 R-EV. A testament to Mazda’s engineering expertise, the rotary engine now acts as a power generator to the onboard lithium-ion battery helping it achieve a 600-kilometer range. The 830-cc engine is so compact it fits on the same axle as the high output electric motor. Honoring Mazda’s history and balancing tradition, this forward-thinking technology points to a multi-pathway approach to achieve carbon neutrality.

    Philippine Endurance Cup

    Aiming to sweep this year’s Philippine Kalayaan Cup Endurance Cup Challenge, a race-optimized version of the #55 Team MSCC Mazda Miata MX-5 is revealed by Angie King. Shown dramatically as an art installation at the Mazda pavilion, it will compete at the upcoming 8-hour Bonifacio Cup on November 24, 2024.

    Already proving its reliability and durability as a racing platform, the Team MSCC Mazda Miata MX-5 will use a stock powertrain for the endurance race. Its 184 PS, 205 Nm 2.0-liter Skyactiv-G engine and 6-speed Skyactiv-Drive manual is the very same powertrain found in the MX-5 sold at all Mazda showrooms nationwide. Striving to push the boundaries of performance and innovation, Angie King focused on lightening the car. With a body made completely of Carbon Fiber-Reinforced Plastic (CFRP), its weight has dropped dramatically by 30 percent to just 700 kilograms, lightening the entire mass by approximately 300kg.

    AutoExe Customization Program

    After its soft launch early this year, Mazda Philippines is now officially an authorized distributor of AutoExe tuning parts and accessories. The launch of the AutoExe Customization Program for new and current Mazda owners exemplifies Mazda Philippines’ commitment to delivering a customer-centric approach to vehicle ownership. At PIMS, a wide range of parts have been fitted onto the Mazda3, CX-60, and MX-5. These parts are now available for order at any authorized Mazda dealership nationwide. Furthermore, Mazda Philippines will study to expand the availability of more parts and models soon.

    Founded by former Mazda works driver Yojiro “Mr. Le Mans” Terada, AutoExe parts are not limited to track use; instead, they are developed with daily use in mind. AutoExe delivers an experience that blends Terada’s passion with his team’s engineering precision.     Born to Perform

    The BYD Seal boasts an impressive profile that delivers the ultimate in electric vehicle performance without sacrificing comfort and practicality.     The BYD Seal is also the first in the lineup to introduce Intelligent Torque Adaption Control, or iTAC. This innovative system revolutionizes traction control through fast processing and reaction times, intelligent allocation of drive torque and torque shift, and the application of negative torque output. iTAC avoids the engine lag associated with traditional traction control while enhancing driving performance, overall handling, and safety.

    The latest BYD flagship performance sedan is equipped with Frequency Selective Damping shock absorbers that enhance ride quality and stability by adjusting damping characteristics based on road conditions and driving requirements. The dampers enhance the vehicle’s composure on smooth surfaces and performance applications while providing riding comfort on uneven roads. A double-wishbone front and a five-link rear suspension configuration ensure a smoother ride and exceptional handling during spirited runs. While large 344-mm perforated and ventilated rotor discs up front and 317-mm ventilated rotor discs at the back deliver reliable stopping power even under extreme driving conditions.

    The BYD Seal is also the fastest-charging model in the lineup, as it introduces 150 kWh DC charging capability ensuring rapid battery charging from 30% to 80% in just 30 minutes. With its wide temperature range heat pump that manages the battery pack’s operating parameters and its 12-Volt Lithium Iron Phosphate starter battery, the BYD Seal is set to deliver long exhilarating drives.

    Enchanted Kingdom, the first and only world-class theme park in the Philippines, presented a night of magical storytelling, enchanting performances, and a timeless fireworks exhibition show to thousands of guests during its 29th anniversary celebration last October 19, 2024, in Santa Rosa, Laguna.

    The Timeless Magic Anniversary Show featured world-class performances from OPM singer-songwriter Zack Tabudlo, OPM gem Janine Berdin, and powerhouse dance crew G-Force.     Lalamove Philippines has taken decisive action to tackle fraudulent activities amid reports of driver accounts being sold or shared. To assure customers of safe and reliable deliveries, the leading on-demand delivery platform is reinforcing security protocols while working closely with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT).

    Facial Recognition Feature for Enhanced Security  

    As part of its anti-fraud measures, Lalamove has introduced facial recognition verification feature within its Driver App to ensure that only authorized drivers can access the platform. 

    All partner drivers must verify their identity through a facial scan before accepting bookings, ensuring that only legitimate drivers handle deliveries. The feature reinforces driver accountability and works in tandem with other monitoring systems, including manual reviews and activity trend analysis.

    Drivers with mismatched information are subject to routine monitoring and are added to a watchlist, which triggers further investigation to prevent potential misuse. Offenders identified through these measures will be permanently banned from the platform under Lalamove’s one-hit policy.

    With the new facial recognition feature in place, Lalamove’s stand is clear: selling or sharing driver accounts is strictly prohibited by the platform.

    He also clarified that the feature complies with the Data Privacy Act of 2012, ensuring that the personal information of our partner drivers is handled securely while giving customers peace of mind.

    Anti-Scam Tips for App Users

    With the holiday season coming in, Lalamove encourages users to carefully and religiously double-check partner driver details—including name, photo, plate number, and vehicle information—before releasing items. If anything seems off, customers should report the issue immediately via Lalamove’s in-app Live Chat and reassign the order to another partner driver using the app’s “Find a New Driver” option.

    Despite the gloomy weather, the Clark International Speedway (CIS) was sizzling with action as the SEAOIL Radical Challenge Philippines powered by BPI staged its 2024 season finale. And in the end, it was the rookie drivers who shone with Mikey Jordan securing the SR3 Challenge Cup title and Rainy Medina taking the crown in the SR1 Challenge Cup.

    Fueled by race-engineered SEAOIL Extreme-97 fuel, Jordan in the SEAOIL-liveried SR3 once again set the early pace in Qualifying, clocking a 1:57.096 lap to secure pole. But his closest-rival Andre Rodrigues wasn’t going to let him walk away with the championship that easily with the Portuguese driver lining up in P2. Rainy Medina picked up right where he left off and qualified P3 on the grid and ahead of all the SR1 runners.

    Seaoil Radical Challenge

    The entire 7-car grid roared off the starting line on Saturday afternoon with Jordan leading the way in Race 4. He would enjoy a dominant lights-to-flag victory to move himself into the SR3 Challenge Cup’s point lead, which was previously held by Rodrigues. Surprisingly, it was karter and series newcomer Rafa Caceres who gave chase to Jordan and finish 2nd on his SEAOIL Radical Challenge Philippines debut with Rodrigues not too far behind in 3rd.

    As for the SR1 Challenge Cup, Medina already had one hand on the championship trophy after securing his 3rd win of the season. Matthew Edmunds was a lap down in 2nd.

    With the title fight heating up on Sunday, Medina and Rodrigues were side-by-side going up to Turn 1 at the start of Race 5. It then soon became a 4-way-battle with rookie driver Michael Apacible and Jordan joining in the fray. Unfortunately, Apacible’s brilliant run was abruptly cut short when he spun out on lap 5 and had to retire.

    Interestingly, a Radical SR1 would cross the finish line in 1st with Medina securing another class win. And since there’s no extra points awarded for an overall victory, Jordan decided to stay behind Medina to finish 1st in the SR3 Challenge Cup. Caceres continued to impress with another 2nd place finish with Rodrigues settling for 3rd after a spin early in the race.

    The 2 class leaders battled for the lead in Race 6 with Medina leading the way on the opening lap. But on lap 2, Jordan finally made his move to get ahead on the road. With the championship already within reach, the pair simply cruised to the finish with both drivers claiming their respective class wins and titles.

    Caceres rounded up his debut weekend with another 2nd place finish in SR3, while Rodrigues sadly concluded the season with a DNF. Apacible ended the day with a solid 2nd in SR1 with Edmunds in 3rd.

    Aside from the Drivers’ Championship, Mikey Jordan also successfully brought SEAOIL x Jordan Racing to the top spot in the Teams’ Championship in the SR3 Challenge Cup. Rainy Medina also celebrated with his team Autoholic Garage as the SR1 team champions in 2024.
