Google is set to release a new version of Drive and rumor has it that it will no longer allow direct document or sheet editing.
According to Android Police, the new unreleased version, instead of allowing editing, will prompt the user to download the Docs and Sheet app to do so. If the user attempts to open the file without downloading the app, they will be greeted by a view-only mode.
